This is a nice little park, and it has some interesting history behind it. Basically all of Communication Hill was owned by the Vieira family, who were Azorean Portuguese immigrants. The family still owns, and I believe, resides on 30 acres of the hill. Communication hill has been developed in conjunction with KB Home, and there are a variety of housing types here. Since it's not a large area, this is the only park up here and it happens to be very nice, and has a view South. There is a play area for kids with a grassy field and benches around the park that make it nice to spend some time here. The kids play area has a soft rubbery surface, which is safer for kids if they fall. They also have swings, seesaw and a structure to climb on for the smaller kids. There are usually some kids for your child to play with and the parents are friendly. The park is quiet, and the noise from planes on landing approach into SJC is minimal. Walk across to Vieira overlook to see across Amaden Valley. It's worth it or walk the trails and up and down the Grand staircase I,m giving away all of our South SJ secret open spaces.
