South Hills Open Space — Attraction in San Luis Obispo

Fun little local spot. One entrance is marked by a paved portion of what looks like a drainage ditch along some houses. Trails can be run or hiked easily, saw people with their dogs on main trail. There are numerous routes you can go, and at least one branch off that takes you across the way to another hilltop you can see once well past the water tower. Would exercise caution if treating this as a run, it is quite easy to slip given the rockiness of the trails. The views at the top of either hill are great panoramas of the city. An easy hike with great views, beautiful rocks, and interesting plant and animal life. This hike is surrounded by several neighborhoods so there are several trails and access points. If you are waking or biking along south higuera this is a pleasant alternative route.
