2018 review :) Summary: 5 stars, hands down, best classic cookies in the bay area! Clarification: by classic I mean the kind you would make when baking at home if you bought a cookie mix from a store. Texture, taste: All of the cookies on the menu are AMAZING! The texture is crispy on the edges and super soft center, and not so soft that when you pick up the cookie it falls apart and breaks in two. Also each bite is just perfect! Seriously these cookies are perfection! I also enjoy them because they are not super sweet like some cookies can be and not super flavorful where I am overpowered with taste, but it has just the right amount of flavor that you just want to keep eating them! And what I mean is if a cookie has too much sugar or just too strong of a flavor, for me I'm ok with just eating it once and then waiting a month or two to have it again. Could just be me though, but for those like me, you'll want to eat a dozen or more and you won't get tired of eating them! What to get: I have tried every cookie on the menu and my personal favorites are walnut chip and semisweet macadamia. If you like nuts, I would definitely recommend these two you. If you like something unique, get Cookies n' Cream. I haven't oreo like cookies anywhere else that were as good as Antoine's. And then the rest of the cookies are just your personal preference. I always enjoy the classic chocolate chip and as I got older I like dark chocolate now so the 66% dark chip is what I get when I'm feeling that.
Also I love chocolate too! And I have had my fair share of chocolate. And I can tell that Antoine's uses high quality chocolate! Why? Besides being the best cookie in the bay area (I would say all of california, but i haven't been to every cookie store, so maybe when I do I can update this review). This is the best DEAL also in the bay area. Even better than costco! And if you've been to costco, you know what I'm talking about, they have great deals! At $1.70 per cookie no matter what cookie you get, its like a steal!
If you've read this far and I haven't convinced you yet to try this place out. I've baked many cookies myself (probably 100,000 cookies), trying recipes from allrecipes, my friend's recipes (which are also VERY amazing), new york times, etc. I would say I love cookies more than food and if they had more nutrition I would eat cookies for al my meals! And it's totally worth the $1.70 per cookies to buy at Antoine's than baking myself. And the only time I would bake my own cookies is if I really wanted it fresh from the oven. Also every time I share Antoine's with others, everyone's face is like O_O, like seriously, they are just like "this cookie is jaw dropping amazing!" EVERYone, literally everyone who has had these cookies just wants more! Extra notes: The cookies also stay good for about a week if refrigerated. But don't quote me on this, maybe your refrigerator is different or the container you use to store them is different. And what I mean by good is the texture does not feel stale and the taste is still great! I think I've also left the cookie out in the kitchen for like 3 days and it was still delicious.
I also recommend taking them home and microwaving them for a few seconds, just enough to melt the chocolate (if you ordered one with chocolate in it). They taste almost like they came fresh out of the oven after microwaving ;) YUM! Why trust me? And trust me, I know my cookies. I've tried cookies all over the bay area and new york, Specialty's, Anthony's cookies, CREAM, Tartine, B Patisserie, The Cheese Board, Ici, Mrs. Fields, SusieCakes, Pacific Cookie Company, Costco, Tate's, Whole Foods, Nestle baked at home (these are actually like 3.5 stars if you know how to bake correctly ;p)
Antoine is da man, the cookie man: The owner Antoine is also a super nice guy and he loves talking...
Read moreI'm a self proclaimed cookie monster and I'm constantly on the hunt for the perfect cookie. Mr. Dubs and I stumbled on Antoine's Cookie Shop on our after dinner Pokemon walk one night and couldn't resist. Unfortunately, Antoine's Cookie Shop just didn't quite do it for us. It's not to say that their cookies weren't delicious, they were just a little too sweet and not quite worth the price.
Here's what we tried:
Cookies and Cream - Sorry, but nowhere near Anthony's Cookies. They were too sweet for my liking, but the density was on point. Inception Cookie - For those who are unfamiliar with the Inception Cookie, this is an Oreo cookie baked into a chocolate chip one. It sounds more interesting than it tasted- the chocolate chip cookie was relish, but couldn't taste the Oreo much. M&Ms - Believe it or not, m&m cookies are my absolute fave. You can rarely go wrong with them, but I found that this one crumbled a little too easily. Could be because we stopped by at the last 30 minutes of the night tho.
Overall, I think Antoine's is worth a visit if you're in the area, but not worth having to travel out...
Read moreThat people think these are excellent âhomemadeâ style cookies makes me sad for people in the Bay Area. The regular tollhouse at home recipe on the back of a bag of chocolate chips makes cookies way, way better than this. These taste a lot like Mrs. Fields or Otis Spunkemeyer - overly sweet, not cooked all the way, not enough salt, and more like shortening, than fully rich butter. If you want truly excellent cookies, go to Mademoiselle Collette, or even get a few of Whole Foodsâ brown butter chocolate chip cookies. But more than that, the interactions with the owner left a very bad taste in my mouth - enough that I will not go back. Antoine was cold and rude both to the family in front of me - who were being effusive and complimentary - and with me, a first time customer. True hospitality in food stems from a desire to create wonderful experiences for guests - from the smell when you enter, to a warm checkout experience, to a great first bite - and Antoine didnât seem to have any love or energy for that process. I think heâs in the...
