In general they are not useful and helpful staff here and they keep track of people returning items late and when you call they refer to their notes like a prosector and lawyer so I recommended to avoid the main library as much as possible. Also their reference desk refused to print out an important application which other branches and county library system gladly do for their patrons. They even called me later saying I can be banned from their library because I needed their help when I came to their reference desk. you will have a horrible experience here if you want to get any help from second floor librarian desk. They are not there to help you but as I see lot of personal conversation and chats going on between the staffs and when it comes to helping patrons they just point to the area and machines to use for faxing and emailing , scanning document without actually helping . I think a county library is much better place to spend your study time and get the things done..they are also extremely accusatory and suspend your library account and go and find out personal information about you. I recommend to the people in city of san mateo and around who need a librarian for an important research and help them apply , check with foster city library, Belmont or San Carlos library . You get 25 pages of free print for your needed paperwork or copy machine and they had this since 2021 . Plus they are nice , very welcoming ,not accusatory and treat all ethnicities the same with high level of professionalism ..Situation in Marina library and Hillsdale as I visited them for years is better and more respectful . Only advantage here they have is they scanner and fax machine that is the...
Read moreThis place is just okay, the people working here need to stop acting like there are higher than anyone. There was this old lady working here came up to me so rudely, to say I was being loud, and she told me to book a study room or leave. However I was not even being loud at all, I was only focusing on my work. And also If the study rooms were available don't you think I would have booked one? I've been here many times where groups of people were talking loudly but I don't ever see any of the workers telling them to stop talking or stop being loud. There are more respectful ways to approach and talk to others. You would think being in a literal building surrounded by books and resources on communication, the workers would learn how to properly and respectfully speak...
Read moreI'm not sure what is going on at this library, my daughter came home today and said, that a group of girls came in to their study room calling them a bunch of private school Bs and told them they wanted to fight.. my daughter and her friends reported them to the Librarian and she did nothing so she called me and I picked her up.. this should not be tolerated.. you are there to study, not have a group of girls enter your study room come on and demand a fight. Something should be done and the staff should be fired for...
