Guys, never never come to this restaurant. You may be treated like a person, but you may not. It's just a coin flip thing. Fairly speaking, okay food, no service, rude owner.
I feel sorry for not seeing John's review earlier:
"I am shocked at how I was treated by Bruno the owner. Very rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional. My wife and have been there many times and taken friends there. Yesterday we ordered two cowboy steaks and a side of mushrooms $160 bill. The steaks were underdone but after calling in Bruno said it was no problem and offered to replace one but we were already putting the kids to bed so asked if I could pick it up tomorrow and he said it was fine. I arrived today and he accused me of taking advantage of his business and said he would provide my steak but to never come back. I have never been talked to like that in my entire life and was shocked at his accusation. He continued to tell me that he is losing thousands of dollars every day. I feel bad for all businesses that are being affected, as I am a business owner myself, but that does not give anyone the right to treat a client so poorly. Even after showing him pictures he continued to accuse me of trying take advantage of his business. I was so offended that I told him to keep his steak and I left without it. I will never eat there again. I hope no one is ever treated like I was. We have enjoyed porterhouse because it was closer than Fleming's Steak House but we will be going to Fleming's from now on."
Same experience today. Servers kept telling lies about how many days their cowboy steak was dry-aged. Boss said "shame on you", "you are cheap", "pay the money and never come back again otherwise I will call the police". They never realized their mistakes but only knew to accuse their customers.
I'll tell the story tomorrow. Just left a 1...
Read moreThis place has one of the best porterhouse steaks I've had in the bay area. We went here for dinner, and without ordering any starters, went straight for the kill. Between 2 of us, we ordered the 20 oz porterhouse steak and 18 oz cowboy steak, and that was plenty! Cooked to perfection with intense beefy buttery flavor in every bite, the thick cut porterhouse was hands down the winner. The cowboy steak was a perfect short bone cut, frenched from one side. Both the steaks were cooked perfectly to give the best medium rare texture and flavors throughout. Both the steaks had a sauce lightly smeared on them. I personally prefer my steaks without any sauce. So if you are the same, ask your server for sauce on the side. Since both the steaks are innately so flavorful and were seasoned to outmost perfection, they do not need any adornments. The veggies and potatoes that are served along with the steak are very delicious and cooked meticulously without making them mushy. The high ceiling atrium with film posters and billboards from old hollywood classics decorate the walls, giving a fun, cozy ambiance perfect for intimate dinners, group meals, or formal eating. Parking in this area can be very challenging on weekends ( we circled for about 30 mins) with some parking garages backed up as well. Since we were getting late, we called the restaurant to hold our reservation, which they did very graciously. Our server was very attentive and made sure we got our food on time as we were running late for plans post dinner. This place is a meat mongers delight, and we can't wait to go back here to try their different steaks and other items from the menu. A...
Read moreI have been eyeing on this since last year, so we came here for our wedding anniversary with reservation through Open Table. First when we came, we still had to wait around 5-10 minutes even though we had reservations… which is a bit disturbing, but it’s not a deal breaker.
Once we ordered, they brought us bread and whipped butter. Nothing remarkable; the butter was sad because they whipped it (I consider whipping butter as subpar, since it’s a way to save cost on pure butter)
2 cocktails from the bar: I wouldn’t say it’s the best. One was too sweet, the other one was too tart.
Escargot: very bland. Full of garlic which I absolutely love, but other than the garlic… it’s so bland and flat. No other flavor profile, not salty, not savory, not sweet, no umami, nothing.
The steak: we ordered porterhouse. This is the item that lifted all the ratings and overall experience: juicy meat, very tender, amazing texture and flavor. Love it! Although I would like to emphasize that the twice baked potato here once again is very bland and boring. There seem to be not a single spice is put into that dish, it’s really flat yet high calories. My husband even complained that it smells terrible (probably due to aged cheese). The onions have strong flavor of reduced balsamic vinegar which I wish they put it separate, since it’s ruining the meat’s flavor.
All in all, the 4 stars is truly just for the porterhouse, nothing else. I’d go back again JUST for the steak, not for the...
