I took a day trip with my mom to San Saba to trace some family roots there and came upon the Wedding Oak Winery. The inside is warm and welcoming with a variety of wedding themed wines. Although I did not drink any wine, the best part of my time there was meeting Belle the manager. She was amazing and very helpful and went above and beyond for my mother who was looking to find the building her grandfather owned in the 1930’s. She pointed us in the direction of the visitors center down the street but not before she told us the history of the wedding oak tree. Fortunately we found the building but made sure to stop back in and buy a few bottles of wine before we headed back to Austin. Belle was so sweet and polite and like her name a true southern belle. We had a fabulous time talking to the staff about the wine selections and were pleasantly surprised that they didn’t make us feel silly in spite of how unfamiliar we are with wines. There was a line and it was moving right along until it came to the gentleman in front of us. We could tell from the conversation that he is a member and that he and his wife know the owner well.
