I wish every city and every state had at least two to three of these one for the younger kids a separate one for the older kids even one for the adults that be nice that would stay open a little bit later a little bit longer it'd be very cool if they had one for pets so people can go with their pets did be even more awesome if they had like grills and picnic table so you can eat and do a whole event there maybe you can rent out the location I know that the venue is free to go for daily usage but to run it out will probably be able to take that money and you know up keep the part upgraded whatever the case may be my kids loved it my nieces and nephews loved it my cousins loved it we had so much fun it's just kind of crazy cuz I looked it up online and it said pets were allowed but when I got there my dog was only allowed in the Park area he was not allowed in the area that we wanted to go to which was the water park slash splash pad area so if they could hook it up so that you know pets can come too because your parents who like to come with their pets and we are responsible and we clean up after our dogs and the whole nine yards and even if they couldn't so that it was joints with other people and dogs at least a little area for my dog to cool down in the park will be awesome but other than...
Read moreKiwanis Family Park in Sanford is a beautiful spot that my family and I enjoy visiting regularly. The playground is fantastic for kids, and the overall atmosphere is welcoming.
However, I’ve noticed a recent issue that I hope the park management will address. They have started allowing multiple food trucks to park directly in front of the playground and the handicapped parking spaces. This setup makes it quite challenging for those of us with disabilities to park and safely unload our vehicles, especially if we need to use wheelchairs or motorized scooters.
There’s a parking lot beside the main one that would be a much better location for the food trucks. It would still provide easy access for everyone without the inconvenience and safety concerns of having them parked directly in front of the playground. A secondary option would be to restrict the food trucks to the back row of the main parking lot. Better yet, park the food trucks on the lawn next to new amphitheater, so people have easy access during concerts. Bottom line - Priority parking should go to families who are there to enjoy the park and concerts, not food vendors!
I hope this change can be considered to make the park more accessible for...
Read moreOVERVIEW: Nice medium sized park with a few miles of various gravel trails. Currently (Feb 2019) under construction at the park’s entrance, so we’re excited for what’s coming!
PROS: -2 parking areas of either side (Wicker Street=50 spaces, Carbonton Road=10), handicap spaces at both -2 open field areas for picnics/kids/games, could be more after construction in done! -a body workout station in the middle with push-up/dips/pull-up/etc stations -lots of neat bridges throughout (see pic for the coolest one)
CONS: -after rain it gets pretty flooded (see pics) with standing water on all of the low ground (60% of the park). Gravel trails are mainly unaffected though -benches and some manmade items are broken/worn and need repair -not the prettiest wildlife, but decent for being right out side the downtown, see pics for some of the prettier growth we saw
We live a mile away, so for what it’s worth we know we’ll be back! I’d love to come to an event when the construction...
