Bellosguardo Foundation (Clark Estate) — Attraction in Santa Barbara

I found the estate to be quite depressing. I found that the president Gerry Lindeman is absolutely Uèle and running the estate. He seems to be plucked out of nowhere and put into a position of his own design I think Mrs. Clark would be horrified to know this person was on her property. The estate is dark and depressing. Wow, so interesting. Huguette Clark's magnificent 23 acre estate is perhaps the most spectacular parcel on the California Coast -- and the french-inspired house is so very grand. Our tour group was just 10, and the docents were kind and knowledgeable. At $100 each, most of the price goes towards funding the hefty ongoing restoration and maintenance -- just watering the 3+ acres of lawn costs about $1000. I've done some digging on Bellesguardo and the Clark family so was excited to finally visit this 'summer home' of theirs. Like stepping back in time. Such a beautiful place and views to die for.
