Finally made it out to Reunion in Santa Barbara with my family, and it was such a great experience. My wife and I had been wanting to go for a while, especially since we got married right above the restaurant. The place has such a beautiful view of the beach, and it felt really special to come back and enjoy a meal with the whole family in such a meaningful spot. We started with the Brussels sprouts, and they were gone almost immediately. They had this sweet tangy glaze with just the right crunch, and the little bits of bacon added a nice saltiness without overpowering the maple flavor. The avocado wontons came out looking like mini gourmet salads. My mom loved them and said they had a refreshing flavor and a great texture with the crispy wonton shell. I went with the chicken brie sandwich, which was recommended by our very sweet waitress and it was definitely the right choice. The brie was creamy but not too strong, and the honey added a nice balance. I do wish there were more pickled red onions in it, just to bring a bit more vinegar to balance the richness, but overall it was a solid sandwich. My dad ordered the Asian noodle salad and said it had a great sesame and umami flavor. He finished the whole thing without saying much, which usually means he really liked it. My wife got the Awesome BLT, and she agreed it lived up to the name. The only thing she would have changed was having the bacon a little crispier since it came out a bit chewy and tough to bite through. We ended up ordering a side of fries because we saw them at another table and could not resist. They were perfectly golden, crispy, and salted just right. No regrets there. The view of the beach while you eat just takes everything to another level, and the staff was friendly and welcoming the whole time. Reunion is a great spot if you are looking for a casual lunch or brunch in Santa Barbara with a beautiful backdrop and great food. Definitely recommend it, especially if you want a relaxed atmosphere with a little extra...
Read moreStaff and service, I will say, is phenomenal! Very kind, and got me a booth for my wife, newborn, and I on valentines Day without a reservation and without having to wait. So for that alone I very much appreciated the visit!
Bit of a fancier place than what I typically go to, but being that it was Valentine's Day, I thought dinner on the beach would be great. Drinks were absolutely magnificent! $20 martini, very expensive for my liking, but the taste matched the price tag! 😋 now as far as the food menu again, I went on Valentine's Day, so idk if it's because of maybe a special menu or not, but the good was VERY EXPENSIVE. Quality food, don't get me wrong, but for the price, the food wasn't that tasty to me or my wife. Which was disappointing. I ordered ceviche, which wasn't very good, to my standards. I had the dad's ribeye, my wife had a different steak, cook @ medium rare, and it was cooked exactly at that, so no complaints there. But the taste again just wasn't what I expected. Her mashed potatoes tasted pretty bland, not seasoned at all.
Based on the pictures and food from other reviews, I was expecting better. Presentation of the plates 🍽 👌🏽 was emaculate, portion size was very good also! I'm specifically talking about the taste itself. It was just o Kaye, nothing special. I would imagine that most of the cost you pay is going into the fact that you're paying for the ambiance and being on the beach vs. the food itself.
All in all, it's not a bad place, but know you will be paying a very pretty penny when you come here! 1 drink each for my wife and I, appetizer each and 1 main course meal ran...
Read moreFinally had an opportunity to try this place. Lovely location on the beach, paid parking lot. They allow leashed dogs on the patio which is a huge plus. Service was good and prompt but a bit overdone, almost silly. What was lacking was the quality of the food! I wanted breafast /brunch. They don't open until 11am so that's when we arrived. Ordered what a thought was a fresh squeezed orange juice but it obviously was not exactly that. Not a lot on the breakfast menu so ordered an omelet and had them substitute the bacon for spinach and tomatoes which they did, thank you. It was a generous size served with a small cup of berries and other fruit, you could get tater tots.. should have tried those as most of the blackberries were bitter / sour.... got some of them down, made it ok that there were so few of them. The biscuit it came with was a huge disappointment. Could not eat it, flavorless, doughy, bad texture and miserable taste. They did not serve anything fun with it, other than some butter. The omelet was okay, dry and lacked flavor or interest. Were these even real eggs I wondered? It was passable but did not match the fuss the server made over it.
All in all would not return. Lots of meat dishes, perhaps those are good, perhaps other things on the menu are yummy but if they can't even do a simple omelet I have...
