I think you should only go during the scheduled event time. I've never been otherwise but according to the other reviews I don't think anyone is there when the events are not going on. We went during the event and we're able to go into all the houses plus there are vendors who sell the kids ice cream, peanuts, and even lunch. They are even dressed up in old timey clothing. The kids could also buy old timey toys...

They're always Pleasant experiences to be had at Pioneer Village every time they open. From handcrafted gifts 2 interpretive exhibitions such as Civil War and the cannon firing, it is always an educational and fun experience. For us, there is a must stop at the blacksmith every single time. What a treasure it is to have this here in White County and the educational experience that it brings to all who...

This is a great place to go and learn what life was like in small towns in the 19th century. They have a general store, jail, barn, house, school house, train depot, trappers cabin, and several sheds/workshops. Everyone was so very friendly! This was a great experience for our family. Our kids loved seeing the old buildings, getting apple cider, sugar cookies, and, of course, getting to see Santa and Mrs. Claus and get a picture! I would recommend a good pair of rain boots to get through the mud if it has rained recently, all of our shoes were absolutely covered.

We stopped by here today not knowing the buildings are closed up until June BUT still it was so awesome to walk around and see the buildings and the beautiful gardens! It gave me so many ideas for my yard and we'll definitely come back with our kids when we can go through the buildings!

We visited during the week so there was nothing going on. I'm sure if we had visited during a time when demonstrations of pioneer life were taking place it would have been a full 5 Star experience. I enjoyed looking at the tractors and various implements on site.
