I can't believe I've lived in the neighborhood for 17 years and just visited the farmers market for the first time today. Organic veggies, LOTS of strawberries (great prices per box), a French bakery, wine, ice cream, a falafel truck...ALL LOCAL. There was even live music! All of the vendors accept credit cards which was very convenient. There are two lots, upper is where the market is and lower has parking. I drove this time but will likely walk in the future as parking is limited and the general area is a little crazy traffic-wise. Read moreI think it's great there's a Farmer's Market, yet it's so crowded, it's off-putting. I wish they'd have the event twice a week. The toddlers were overwhelmed, crying in their strollers. It wasn't a "calm, peaceful shopping experience". A lot of booths were "ready made" food, some came just for the smoothies, desserts. If there was more space, if the Farmer's Market was set up to be a length of booths, instead of a clump placed on an asphalt lot, it'd be a more pleasant experience. Read moreI'm disturbed by the gross and undisclosed "courtesy fee" of $20.00 for using my debit card at Olsen Farms and at Lyall Farms. I was charged $40, without notice, in one day at Phinney Market.
Alvarez Farms had no trouble processing my purchase without doubling my cost because I used a card. I admit, I wish I had brought enough cash to keep the processing fees out of the market, but I decided to buy bulk in order to put some food by over the weekend.
