Buddah Beach is a beautiful and peaceful place. The are several opportunities for photographs of the cairns people have built, Oak Creek, the surrounding mountains, and nature in general. Take the time to build your own cairn if you like but please don't disturb the ones already placed. (Someone was kicking them down when I was there.) They are built in a place where the creek will knock them down when it's their time. The beach has several different areas where you can access and enter the water, if you wish to. Or you can just sit and enjoy the sounds of the babbling creek. Take a picnic, but be sure to carry out anything you bring in. The are several trails to walk along and/or hike. Feel free to explore but stay on the paths, so as to maintain the health of the natural areas and habitats. The trails also continue on through the Red Rock wilderness, if you feel like going farther out.
There are trash cans, vending machines, and restrooms at Crescent Moon State Park, where you can park and walk about a quarter mile out to Buddah Beach. The park requires a $10 parking fee for a regular vehicle with 4 or less people - it's $2 more per person after that. The park closes at dusk, so be sure to plan...
Read moreThis place is gorgeous. The walk to the “beach” is on sidewalks so no hiking needed. The water is deep enough to dive off rocks in some places and shallow enough to let toddlers play in others. WEAR WATER SHOES!! I can’t tell you how many people I saw slip and fall. The view of cathedral rock is stunning. GET THERE AS SOON AS THEY OPEN! The parking lot fills up quickly and then the nasty trash people start walking in. I was absolutely disgusted because I got there as soon as they opened so I saw it beautiful and pristine but by 12pm the place was full of walk in trash people blasting Mexican gangsta rap and throwing trash EVERYWHERE. I watched three large family groups allow their children to drop juice boxes, plastic wrappers and half eaten watermelon all over the place. It was gross. Don’t be that nasty trash person. CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF AND YOUR CHILDREN. There was also a competing family blasting Arabic gangsta rap and trying to drop even more trash so don’t be like those groups. I saw tons of people stepping on their things purposefully because their trashy behavior was so cringey. Be respectful and it’s really a...
Read moreBuddha Beach was an amazing place to relax by the creek. As of February 2019, with the crazy intense storms and subsequent flooding, it has been changed forever. Who knows what the future holds for this area, but as of now, it is absolutely decimated. There never were any buddha statues or anything like that, if thats what you heard. And its not a religion specific area. The name came around, because back in the 50's there was an ashram to Sri Aurobindo in the area that is now known as Crescent Moon. Its gone now, as is Buddha Beach. People used to stack little rock cairns here, and the Forest Service hated it, they would come in and kick them over. I understand the reasoning behind it, but this place was different, it was known and even advertised about the cairn building, and it didnt affect wildlife or anything at all. Well, all that Disrespect is probably what caused the forest spirits to weaken and eventually be destroyed by the terrible flooding. Our forests need protecting, but so do our spiritual forests, take heed, gentle...
