I arrived there close to dusk. The dog park has two enclosures for small and large dogs. Both enclosures are large water available. UPDATE of march 30 2025. This time, i arrived during the day. The dog park is close to the end of the park road. The dog park is well shaded and ground cover is a mixture of mulch or tree leaves which had fallen and no one bothered to pickup and some grassy area mixture different ground cover of natural growing weeds and native plants. I was bitten by several mosquitos, so this has not changed. Since i was there during the day, i could easily see the neglect this dog park receives. The shelters that are there are in a state of disrepair. Broken muddy and leaves accumulated on the broken roof shelters. The equipment there for dog training was also in neglect broken and disrepair. There was water available. But signs posted warning patrons what not to do with the water. Bella and I were the only ones there the time I visited, and we explored both the small dog and large dog enclosure, and they were pretty much the same. As I was leaving and seated in my car, someone pulled up to use the dog park and it was interesting to that this man came prepared to visit the dog park...because I noticed that he started to spray on insect repellent. He obliviously been here before. ...
Read moreThe playground and surrounding area is very well maintained. The restrooms were checked and cleaned by volunteers at least twice during our 3-hour visit. The floor of the playground area is a soft, rubber cushion, which was nice for children and adults alike to walk on. Newly walking toddlers had a soft spot to fall without harm. Several benches surround the playground area and sidewalks are nice and wide for littles to ride scooters/bikes. Handicap accessible! There are also both trash and recycling bins available on site, as well as a covered pavilion with picnic tables.
I docked one star because several items of equipment (alligator statue, toddler climbing apparatus, swings) were extremely hot to the touch and it was not even a very hot day. Most of the playground is covered by shade sails, but the baby swings especially were in the full sun the whole time we were there and I believe they do not ever receive shade at all...
Read moreBeautiful park. It has nice paths through the mangroves on raised boardwalks. There is an observation tower with great views of the intracostal. There is a wide, paved path that goes toward the front of the park as well that's suitable for exercise. The playground has recently been redone. It is a unique design made to be accessible to kids with physical disabilities. It is built on a rubbery surface, so less prone to flooding than some other area playgrounds in the rainy season. The kids really seem to enjoy it, and the design seems to encourage social interaction. There are a toddler playground and swings as well. The swings and some slides lack shade, but there was still plenty to do on a hot August day. There are restrooms nearby, but no changing facilities. They might be difficult to navigate in a wheelchair, which is a shame next to an accessible playground. We always enjoy our visits here and recommend it to...
