This place is weird. If your restaurant needs someone to explain how the restaurant works before your customers can sit down, you're doing something wrong. If customers arrive when the deli opens - which is an hour before their kitchen opens - your options are cold, premade sandwiches, poke, and soup. Of course if you want the poke bar it's a whole other explanation, which the explainer didn't seem too keen on giving.
While my mom and I ate our lunch, we heard the explainer complaining because some customers assume they can check out at his counter. Yeah, dude, because your counter is where the food is. Why would anyone assume they have to go into the dark bar in an adjacent room to pay for their food? I mean, we knew to do that because you told us, but the whole reason you told us is because it doesn't make sense unless explained.
Anyway, the whole atmosphere and ordering/dining protocol were weird, but the ultimate Italian sandwich we got was decent (and actually included mortadella!) and the wild rice mushroom soup was super tasty!
Overall, I'd recommend the food and just warn you that it's a weird experience and if you want something hot other than soup you should...
Read moreDisc golf review. This is a fun course to play. It has to be if I am going to drive over an hour out of my way to play. The signage is in ok shape but everything is marked. You can't get lost here. There are awesome stairs and paths leading down through the valley that splits the course. Some holes are right on top of each other so beware of your surroundings. I usually play early morning so it has never been busy. With a few exceptions, the holes are not long and many have technical shots depending on pin placements. There are no pro pads which is fine by me and there are some holes with alternate pin placements. Some holes have the luxury of Lake Michigan as a backdrop and one hole running along the shore line. Sadly, from experience, I suggest having a expendable disc in your bag for that hole, just incase. Great course for all levels and there is a pro shop on site, though the hours are not the greatest for my early morning rounds. There are surprisingly clean bathrooms on site as well assuming they aren't locked. It takes roughly 60-90 minutes a round...
Read moreOne of the OG Wisconsin courses from back in the Frisbee days (late '70s I believe). Mostly short holes with lots of ace runs (only a few over 300'). Uses the Vollrath Bowl elevation pretty well to create some fun holes. Beginner friendly.
Unfortunately, they altered the design. The old hole 12 was a tweener hole and nothing special, but 13 was a longer hole playing parallel to Lake Michigan that brought water into play. It offered great views and a spot to pause your round. 14 was a short challenger going uphill about 60 degrees to a basket on a treacherous green. The replacement holes pale...
