The great golf picnic table rush. My frustration: They post an ad with cheap picnic tables from the recent golf tournament. These would be great for a kid's party, but I can't get there until Thursday. The ad says, "This posting will be removed when this item is sold." I respond to the ad on Tuesday saying I would like some and asked if I can prepay. They message me that they don't open until tomorrow (Wed) at 11 am and at that time I can call and they will place them on a 24 hr hold for me. I call the following day (Wed) just after they open only to be told that all the tables are sold, I can't place them on a hold, and that they are going to get more tables today to be available for sale. I try calling back at 4:40pm (they close at 5pm) but no one answers; I'd like to know if they picked up more tables as they said so I can be there prompt at opening on Thursday. I try calling 17 times, nobody picks up the phone once. I respond to the ad which still shows the tables as 'available'. I finally got a response from the ad today (Thursday) saying they are now sold. I had a friend just drive by the store minutes ago and they have many tables sitting outside but they all say "sold" on them. It seems that the rules on prepay/hold don't apply equally to all customers. Recap: frustrating to deal with, can't rely on the information they tell you, hard to get a hold of, and appear to treat customers...
Read moreI have been a Restore volunteer, and love nothing more than finding old building-related treasures, so when I travel, I stop at as many different Restores as possible. I have had some amazing experiences, and some terrible, and this one warranted a public post.
I was preparing to buy about a dozen items ranging from $0.25 to $5. As the cashier was ringing me up, the manager comes over and points out that the $5 item must have been mislabeled or mispriced, and should have been $12. I said, that's ok, I dont want it then. So what should have happened? I bought the rest of my items, moved on, everyone would have been happy. The manager proceeded to argue with me about how good of deal said item still was at $12 (you wont find it at Menards you know). I said, maybe, but plenty of other Restores have the same thing for under $3 and named one in particular. He KEPT ARGUING with me, and not in a fun, playful way, but in a rude, belligerent way. Eventually I walked out and left ALL of my items on the counter.
Too bad, because they do have a pretty cool selection, although I've yet to find anything AMAZING there as I have at other Restores.
Still giving 2 stars because ALL Restores deserve at least that much, even the...
Read moreWow, prices have skyrocketed! They claim “40% – 60% below retail/new”. Not accurate. Doors, for instance, are in poor condition and are being sold upwards of $80. Sure, less price than new, but by the time you’re done stripping, patching/filling, sanding, and recoating, you’ve exceeded the price of a new door. I’m not talking about specialty doors are either, just standard stuff. Other items, such as light fixtures, windows, trim, are the same deal.
Perhaps their business model has ventured away from helping out the person who’s willing to put in some effort to stay off of the freebie welfare entitlements who are on a budget, and instead hiking up the prices, taking the profits and building move-in grade houses for...
