I don't usually leave reviews but I do have to say that doing this farm tour was an incredible experience. Doug, the host and owner, was so amazing like the other reviews have said. It's advised to make a reservation ahead of time but we were passing by and saw his farm and we were lucky to arrive just in time for a tour, along with a few other families. Doug was so warm, inviting, funny and knowledgeable. I'm so glad he made accomodations to let us into the tour.
My toddler was a bit hesitant at first being around the alpacas but he quickly fell in love and quickly became the alpaca whisperer and kept asking for food to feed them from his hands. He was jumping for joy getting to feed and pet the alpacas!
It's such a cool experience being so immersed in the knowledge provided by Doug about alpacas and how close you get to be by those amazing and kind animals. And it's so nice to see that he really cares about them and they all look to be very well taken care of. Our group, much like the alpacas were of all ages. It's amazing that I hadn't known about this place before as I'm always looking for unique things to do.
If anyone is anywhere near the Portland metro area, this place is SOOOOO worth the trip. We will definitely be back as my son can't stop fawning over how much he loved the baby alpacas and the gentle and kind older ones. Go visit Doug and his farm! It's amazing for all ages.
P.S. their doggo border collie is such...
Read moreIf you have never spent quality one-on-one time with an alpaca before, you are missing out on one of life’s cutest experiences. I have been to Alpacas of Oregon many times and will continue to come back with as many loved ones as possible. To say I’m obsessed with them and feel like the very special chosen one when they boop their velvety soft noses with mine is a bit of an understatement.
Visiting Alpacas of Oregon is absolutely one of my top 5 favorite things to do in the Portland-ish area. Their Alpacas all have unique and quirky names and personalities (like the chocolate alpha female “Coco” and her dominant, yet sweet baby “Pebbles”). And the adorably floofy, long-eyelashed, docile baby alpacas will make your heart melt!
You can tell that Doug and his wife truly love their alpacas by how they speak about them and how well they take care of all of them. I love Alpacas of Oregon and learn something new every time I venture down for a visit. I will be back as soon as I get the chance. Go give your children and/or the child that still lives within you a truly wholesome and magical experience bonding with the Alpacas at Alpacas of Oregon. I promise that you will walk away from the experience with all the warm...
Read moreWe had a pretty great time here! We got fairly good weather and they had also put a tent up for us as well.
We came for my daughter’s 8th birthday party and the whole group enjoyed learning about the Alpacas and feeding them. We were able to pet some of them and they are so soft and fluffy! It was much cleaner than I expected based upon the other reviews, remember, it is a farm and animals poop. The little store is also cute and he offered us to go in, did not feel forced. It would definitely be cool is they had more products that were made there but I know that is tough.
I do agree with some of the other reviews that this shouldn’t be called a tour and instead should be called an experience. It is also a little spendy for what it is, especially with a large group. I understand with a small group that the charge is $15pp because it is effort for the guide to come out and needs to be worth their time. There should be a prorated cost after 10 people.
We will visit again as a family and enjoy our time with...
