I am a Canadian Veteran 67 years old with no criminal record staying in Green Valley AZ for 6 weeks. I have a passion for this particular military history and drove to the museum but my wife and I were labelled foreign nationalists at the gate and refused entry and not offered an escort to the museum from the gate entry point. What do we need to do to visit this museum. I will be in Green Valley next February and March 2020. Was not impressed and felt treated like a criminal. This is a public museum is it not, and I did not see stated that it was for only US citizens. I have since learned after writing this review that if a non US citizen wishes to visit the museum, contact the Sierra Vista Visitor Centre at least 3 weeks prior to your visit, to gain access...

Excellent museum. Lots of history. However, the museum needs to update the history of the Buffalo Soldiers serving with the French in WW 1. There is zero mention at the museum of the reason they did. The white American soldiers did not want to fight beside them. This is well documented history. You've totally glanced over this. There is also no mention of the 1918 Bisbee race riot where soldiers were attacked by the Bisbee police. This is just as important as other events.

Also, the amount of space dedicated to the Buffalo Soldiers is abysmal. They were a major part of the Fort, but the museum just pays them lip service.

Hopefully, someone with the museum reads this and wake up. The Buffalo Soldiers deserve more than...

It was amazing! If you're a history buff, you'll love it! It's small, but has so much information! The artifacts are so well put together with the information. The gift shop is amazing as well! The post cards are 0.01! I thought the lady made a mistake. I was looking and said "3 dollars? I thought the postcards were 1.00 each". Lol. I got 10 postcards and a geo rock for 3.85 cents! Tomorrow I'm going back and buying 300 post cards and the rest of the Christmas cards they have. Lol. I love a sale! I can't believe I didn't visit this museum when I was stationed here. Please visit this museum if you're at Huachuca or are planning a visit; you...

Update: the second floor remains closed, so the museum doesn't take very little ng to go through, but still very worthwhile. The gift shop has really upgraded what it sells since I was last there. Beautiful native American art and more. A wonderful, free museum (please drop a little something in the donation box) that is open to the public. It covers the history of the post and many people who were stationed here, and what life was like, as well as some history of the surrounding area.

My family lived at Fort Huachuca when my father was stationed there, in the 1960's. My brother and I were young then. We were found playing with scorpions, with a stick. My mom freaked out; but somehow we didn't get stung. We moved on to Hanau, West Germany, and beyond, after leaving Arizona. I remember how hot it was living in the desert, but I always loved going back to the beautiful Desert Southwest! My mom lived in Tucson while in college, and loved it so much. RIP Mom <3

I started off with the uniform display which is expansive and well documented. I moved onto another building where they had a very good display of UAVs and their use through conflicts. Found the museum well maintained and lots of helpful people working there. A good place to stop if your in the area.
