TRIP 1-My wife and I stayed here last weekend with our pooch and we both agreed it one of the best places we've ever stayed at. The lodge has a really warm feel to it and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful with anything we needed. They give you a doggy basket just for your pooch. They even lit up their outside firepit the first night we spent there. Our room was very clean and looked very nice. As far as some people complaining about barking from other rooms, I kinda wonder what youd expect from a dog that is in a new place and honestly speaking we didnt hear much barking from other rooms. My wife and I will deffinately be staying here again the next time we visit door county and we highly recommend this lodge. TRIP 2- We returned and things have only gotten better. The doggy baskets include a few treats, some silicone bowls, a blanket to put over the furniture, a bed cover so your pooches can sleep on the bed with you, and a doggy bed. It's like a mini resort with all the amenities offered. The staff are still very friendly and nice, everything is still clean and well kept. Can't ask for more in my opinion and they go above and beyond to make your stay wonderful.

My family has come to Door County every October for the last 17 years, always camped. This year we got a room at Open Hearth Lodge and it has been wonderful. We may never camp again! This place is so warm and welcoming, has some neat deco inside. Clean sharp wood focus walls, nice outdoor space filled with plenty of chairs, fire pits, baggo sets. The pool and hot tub are clean and the perfect temperature. The lobby has comfortable seating and a gorgeous stone fireplace, nice spot for lounging. The owner / operator is the hardest working person I’ve seen in a long time. He’s everywhere at once. Always polite and helping his guests. That hustle really shows, as this place feels well-organized. The breakfast food was decent, but what stood out were the options. There were like 5 choices for coffee creamer flavors, plenty of tea options, a couple local door county coffee blends, and local honey sticks. It’s those little details that stand out for me. Really well planned and thoughtful. Not just doing the bare minimum. We will definitely return. The rooms were adequate, clean and comfortable. But my review is for the overall establishment. Fantastic atmosphere!

Large dog-friendly hotel! I've never seen a hotel with a fenced-in dog park and a dog bathing station! The room was large (hot tub room), window visible for the dog, plenty of places to sit with the couch and king size bed, extra bedding in room already, fridge and microwave which is becoming more standard now but they were nice. Large smart TV, was able to access Amazon prime video (free wifi)! Overall a very pretty hotel with great accommodations. Only problem with a dog-friendly hotel is people with untrained, uncontrolled dogs. Lots of noise from upstairs and barking in hallway. I'd suggest bringing a white-noise machine like we always bring when we travel. Once we had that on max volume we were able to get to sleep easily. My only complaint about the room itself is how bright that blue thermostat light is.. I couldn't find a way to turn it off so I had to hang a shirt over it every night. Not a big deal but something like a hinged door over it or optional cover would help. We will return here for sure.

I enjoy Green Bay immensely.

The staff here is extremely nice. I mean, I tend to be talkative, and positive most of the time so that probably helps... but eitherway I can see John the owner and his brother Jordan always chipper.

I was looking for somewhere to stay. This was an emergency visit I needed to get away for health issues. I showed up a little late and Jordan accommodated me at an impressive speed, gave me an amazing price and the room was clean and wonderful....

I was planning on staying here later in the month if things work out with the woman. Animal issues. Cool thing is that John's sister runs Julie's Motel down the street which allows cats, dogs. Wonderful! Right next to Peninsula Park, a nice pizza restaurant, bike rental and shop, and altogether close to Sister Bay and just overall goodies.

Plenty of gas stations too apparently.

Wonderful stay here! Worth jt! Pool! Hot tub! Fire pits. Chill pads, and I swear there's a frisbee golf net in the back.

Barn Owls swoop quieter than.... uhm.... gravity? In the middle of Hwy 72 at like 9 PM's as you check your car.

Recommend this place for families excellent for kids, great log cabin like build as well as a yoda, or baby yoda? Above the entrance fireplace. Hehe.

Too drunk or too lazy to leave? No worries they have a wide selection for you to buy all day and night (I think night).. great selection of wines and beers and such... but other than that... place is worth the money, clean, warm, windows are good too (I always inspect). Excellent hot and cold water (hate low pressure slow systems).

Breakfast in the morning. Everyone here is salt od the earth... at least have been for me. Home away from home.

Oh and thanks for so many pillows!!

So 5/5!...

We stayed at Open Hearth Lodge for two nights. Two adults, 8 year old, and our 8 month old puppy. We wanted a pet friendly property with an indoor pool.

We stayed in room L31. It was a one bedroom apartment. It had a balcony that overlooked the back of the property. Two very large TVs. Large bathroom and shower. King size bed and large whirlpool bath in the bedroom. 6 nice bath towels and other bath linens. We had a sofa bed also. We saw deer outside in the morning. The unit had updated flooring and appliances. Fully stocked kitchen. Very clean thought the entire property!

Free breakfast was good with plentiful options including hot pancakes. Nice breakfast area. Inviting fireplaces throughout, including our apartment.

Pet friendly, and Open Hearth took it beyond that. We felt our dog was welcomed. In our apartment was a treat bag, basket of blankets and a dog bed. We brought our own dog bed but it was nice they provided that. There's a large fence exercise area with waste receptacle bags. There's a separate pet friendly wing.

The pool and jacuzzi were nice, as well as clean. There were pool toys, a small child flotation vest and pool noodle. They also provided nice swim towels in that area. Had a shelf with games and books downstairs. Also provided games in our room.

Just a mile from downtown Sister Bay. Across the highway is a road that leads to Pebble Beach. Even with the snow my puppy and I were able to explore the beach.

Will definitely stay here again. The properly was also...

WOW! We are locals so don’t typically stay at area resorts, although we had a snow/ice storm that left us without power for 24 hours. Our home quickly became cold & we had no electricity & water. I called Open Hearth to ask if they had availability for the night & were dog friendly. Yes, they did & said they were giving discounts to residents affected by the outages. We quickly went to the resort & were completely enchanted & impressed by the facility. Very comfortable, homey & the staff felt like old friends. Very professional, caring & made sure all of our & our dogs expectations were met. This Lodge has several public cozy spaces with fireplaces & comfy furniture that makes it truly feel like home, The coffee is always on & plentiful! There is an indoor pool, whirlpool, exercise room, breakfast room & more. Their attention to detail in decor is unlike anything we’ve seen. They even had a container filled with snow brushes for guests to use to clean off their cars. They really think of everything. You can tell this lodge is run by caring, loving people who love what they do. The rooms are comfortable & very clean. There were surprises for our dog which she loved! The grounds are beautiful…some wooded, some open areas, play spaces for children, several outdoor fire pit areas, an enclosed dog “park,” and even free dog washing/bathing room to use inside. Although we live here….we will be back to this amazing place for a change of scenery! Thank you from the bottom...
