Silver Comet Trail - Mavell Road Trailhead — Attraction in Smyrna

Flat, scenic, perfect if you’re on wheels. Not a week goes by that I don’t skate here. I will say, if you’re on roller skates, I can’t recommend going much further than 5 miles down the trail, or past the silver comet bike shop (which is also great). The terrain gets a little bumpy even for my soft outdoor wheels. I find the distance from the Mavell trail head to the bike shop to be the perfect distance (9-10 miles round trip) and refreshingly downhill on the way back (+a beginner friendly decline for sure). Just leaving this review for any skaters who can’t find places to go besides the belt line, which is a public hazard during peak times...

The Silver Comet Trail is a paved multi-purpose trail that runs just over 60 miles from Smyrna, Georgia, to the Alabama state line. From there, it continuous as Chief Ladiga Trail until Anniston. Most of the trail is built on a rail bed which means it is rather flat with most inclines no more than 2% - except a ten-mile stretch between Rockmart and Cedartown where it goes off the rail bed and becomes quite hilly. A runner’s review.

Parking - Arrived at the parking lot on a Saturday morning 7AM. Had lot of open slots Run level - I used to run on roads and felt this is easy as its mostly flat. Lot of trees and birds sounds felt good. I did a 10mile run and 70% of the time didnt hear any vehicle noise, this felt so good being a road runner. Cons- I had to cross 3 intersections in the route and had to stop for the moving traffic. But thats okay as running in nature was...
