I am giving a 3 star review because our past experiences here have been nice. This years experience was disappointing and I feel like we were mislead with misinformation on the Thomas Family Farm website with some of the activities and pricing.
It is 22$ for a weekend activity ticket. I initially just bought one for my son so he could do the activities and I had planned on buying corn maze tickets separately for us all once we got there as they did not have an option to do so on the website. When we arrived, I was told that adults needed a wristband (22$) to just WALK BACK to the kids area with the child. This seems to be price gouging. They would not sell me the corn maze tickets on their own and insisted that I would get a free corn maze ticket with the purchase of another wristband. It turns out, when you actually go to the corn maze entrance and not the ticket counter, you can purchase corn maze tickets which are considerably cheaper than the wristband but they do not tell you this at the counter.
The website has the picture of these go karts or per their wristband at the farm, called "prokarts"... they used to have these here but must have gotten rid of them and replaced them with tricycles. The website makes it look like they have these prokarts and tricycles. The tricycles are small and really only an activity children can do and fit on, whereas the karts they used to have were large enough for children and adults to ride.
Overall, I spent nearly 80$ on tickets alone (3 weekend day activity wristbands), gem mining tickets etc. I don't understand why the farm would charge adults to go back to the kids area when the area is just that, for kids.. and most of the parents stand and observe as their children do the activities. The website is misleading and makes you think they have activities there that actually aren't there and they do not explain that you can buy corn maze tickets separately.
Pumpkin patches/farms used to be a fun, low-cost outdoor activity that parents could go to and enjoy with their children but the pricing of this farm and the insistence that parents need tickets just to be with their children in the kids area really puts a damper on the enjoyment factor. They also need to update their website with proper information.
We will be searching for a new farm to...
Read moreThere is so much to do: I went on Grandparents Day. Thank heavens as it was half price for entrance and buying pumpkins. On a normal day, price is $16.00 per person. I took 5 kids. For the price we had a lot to do: 100’ slide, bouncy floor, sand slides, peddling karts, hay stacks to climb, another sand hill with huge tires(we didn’t go there), ride their “train” (little animal carts lined up and pulled by a tractor). Attached is a photo that is posted at the ticket window which shows what is included with the entrance fee. The others have a cost of $5-15 each. The kids really enjoyed the mining. I paid $5.00 per bag. They got wet and dirty but loved it. Bring a sturdy bag for clean & wet clothes (I didn’t and had to lug around the wet jackets along with their plastic bags of treasures {rocks/gems}). We did an escape room, the 9 year old solved it in 3.5 minutes. It was a level 2. You are given 5 minutes to get out. Cost is $5.00 per person. The older 3 boys(12 & 14 couldn’t figure out the level 3 escape room, but got out early on the level 4. They were stoked! The older boys thought the pedal karts were lame until they did them, they loved doing it so went back again. Everything is a race with them. I was surprised how much the older boys enjoyed being at the farm. There was a set up for basket ball dunking, baseball and football. Basically aim the ball through the hole. The older boys loved that too. In the pumpkin field, there is a good chance of shoes getting muddy. The older boys did the 3 mile corn maze. They ran it twice. They loved the challenge of racing each other. The farm hours were 10-5:30. It’s easy to spend the whole day there. Foot wasn’t a horrible price. I did pack a lot of sandwiches and snacks but we didn’t eat them until we left I was glad we did have the food as the kids...
Read moreThe good: everything is very close together. Easy to keep track of littles. Very, very large pumpkin patch with sooooo many options for pumpkins. Kind staff who was helpful. Fun beer garden. Inside seating with lots of places to sit. They gave me a refund when I brought back my 4 yr olds unused wrist band. The lady at the desk was VERY kind.
Could be better: each "large" activity can only be done 1 single time. Every single person who goes to the back play area needs to pay full price for arm bands. Parents and grandparents who don't want to go on the slide or do ANY of the activities can not go back to the main play area w/o a wrist band. The age range is 4+ and 4 yr olds aren't big enough to do anything on the arm bands. I could not go back to join my family b/c I was exchanging the wrist band and allowed my daughter to use my wrist band to do the cow train as she could not do anything else and you have to have a wrist band to go to the back, they check.
Ideas to improve for the years to come and make me want to choose Thomas family again: give parents/grown up a colored armband free of charge who want to join kids and family members and watch them play but not participate. Allow folks to go on the big rides more than once. I'd happily pay $30 vs $22 if it lent we could let our kids do the big slide, paint ball, tricycles and cow train as many times as they want. Check size of kids before arm bands are bought, offer reduced option for younger kids who can only do the mini golf or inflated corn maze type things.
I'm hopeful for the change in years to come to make the experience of a pumpkin patch more enjoyable for the...
