Beautiful must-stop if you're traveling along highway 1 in Big Sur. I'd imagine if I ever was a pirate I'd park my ship here to hide away from the rough waves and take refuge in this gorgeous cove! Trail is currently under construction, so you can only go through the tunnel and up to directly diagonal above from the cove to see the McWay falls. Park on the side of the road as the McWay canyon pfieffer state Park entrance is closed after hours and make your way down the trail.

One of the most well know location on the Big Sur cost, this cove has one of the most picture-esk waterfalls you will find on the west coast. To get to the overlook of the cove there is a little hike but nothing too hard. As this area can be popular at times of the year, parking can be a issue. The main state park lot fills up fast and parking on HWY1 is limited. So be prepared for crowds and additional walking you are planning on adding this stop on your HWY 1 adventure.

Was a bit disappointed by this. I think the weather wasn’t the best and we didn’t have time to fully do the trail and see the falls from the best angle. Just pulled off to the side of the road but it was quite busy and perhaps it’s worth it to go into the park and pay the $10. Very beautiful coastline though and hope to maybe return on a nicer day.
