Awesome hike up the mountain and through the forests surrounding Bartholomew Winery. More challenging than I expected, but definitely did OK and so did my dog. Lots of signs to keep him on leash, so I did, because it seems like not all trails allow dogs at all. There was a nice creek about 1/2 way around for him to get water and cool off. There was a fork in the route, and I took the Angel’s Flight route, which had a great viewpoint of the Sonoma valley. Definitely recommend trail shoes with some grip and support, because parts are steep. But there are good stairs built into the hill on the steepest parts. The Bartholomew family foundation does a nice job of maintaining this trail and keeping access friendly. I went into the winery tasting room to buy a bottle to take home and support them as thanks. The winery loop itself is only about 2 miles, but I walked out from downtown (flat) and it was about 7 miles in all, round trip. I will plan to hike this every time I return to Sonoma. Really good hike.

Such a great trail. Some spots would be tough for those without balance but we loved the adventure! A few great places to pause and enjoy the view along the way. There are two entrance points separated by the main winery road, one is North and one is South. But it is a loop and wherever you begin, you’ll come out through the other end. I love that they have this here to enjoy for free. Feels like I’m at a private quaint hiking trail, meaning no crazy crowds. Wine tastings and purchases support the park.

A great way to get away while staying in Sonoma. Rarely overcrowded and you can bring your dog if you want to! There isn’t a huge amount of elevation gain but it can be steep and footing can be a bit technical for those who may be a bit unsure on their feet. When the sky is clear there are some great views too.
