We always enjoy local farmers markets and street side vendors for fresh produce/fruit. We stopped at Rissers this year because of the corn maze, which was a lot of fun. The variety of fall items in the farmers market was less to be desired this time. My husband is a fan of whoopie pies and local fudge so we went that route instead of the fruit and veggies. We didnt think we needed to thoroughly inspect each item as we loaded up because your first impression of a farmers market is typically "fresh." After spending $75 on a combination of goods and well into our road trip a few hours later, we noticed mold inside 4 out of 6 of our packages of fudge. Upon further inspection, I realized not one of the labeled packages had expiration, best by or made on dates for freshness. This was a huge disappointed to us and due to time constraints we were unable to turn around and return to the market. Needless to say, I tossed all the fudge, just to be safe. To further disappoint my husband, I tossed his 5 whoopie pies too. Im aware the candy company and baked goods come from other local vendors, but the market should take a responsibility to ensure the safety and freshness of their goods to others. I believe these are conditions they should make with thier suppliers before doing business.. or risk losing...
Read moreSunday October 16. Took my 3 kids to pick pumpkins and buy some other items. This was our 4th year in a row. Pulling the wagon around and walking the pumpkin patch was fun. Paying was not......
After we spent about an hour picking our own we discovered that they're actually cheaper (and cleaner) right by the retail building. I also remembered from years past that pick your own pumpkins were priced per pound- with a maximum charge. I asked about this as I was being quoted my outrageous total and was met with a blank stare. Same result when I repeated my question. Then the young lady couldn't tell me how many pounds they weighed, etc. She honestly seemed to be robotic and reading a script. This was at the outdoor registers.
Similar lack of customer service happened when we tried to buy apples inside and sought guidance. We spent over $50 and did not have a pleasant experience. I think they are basically catering to "the Hershey crowd".
We will not get our pumpkins or anything else...
Read moreI recently stopped at Risser Marvel with my professionally trained service dog. As I shopped around the market, the older dark haired employee walked over to another employee, her daughter. The older woman turned her back to me and whispered to her daughter as her daughter looked up at me. A clear indication that her mother was talking about my service dog and I. Absolutely rude behavior on the mother's part. The daughter was very kind and helped me carry my large purchase to my car. Glad she doesn't have her mother's manners. I will definitely tell all my friends with service dogs about this woman's behavior. This woman needs training pertaining to the ADA Laws and how to...
