When my sister passed away in a Massachusetts nursing home, her daughter, my niece, and I, her sister, were dismayed to find that much of her heirloom jewelry was damaged or gone. In particular, an antique British three strand pearl necklace with a jeweled and seed pearl clasp was dirty, missing its longest strand and needed restringing. My niece had worn it at her wedding and had hoped to pass it on to her daughter. She had experienced the death of her mother, father and brother all within one year and I very much wanted to fix the necklace for her. Two jewelers near me tried matching the pearls and gave estimates for restringing but their efforts fell short. The pearls they proposed were inferior and far from the right luster or color. Then, I went to Mountz and, fortunately, found Warren. He immediately recognized the necklace's value (in sentiment and dollars) and also the difficulty in bringing it back to its original state. Thus began a long saga that included sending the necklace to jewelers first near home in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, then to store specializing in pearls in Manhattan, and then to Philadelphia. The jeweler in Philly was someone Warren had worked with for many years and had, at one time, specialized in pearls. Warren thought he might still have some access to high quality pearls. It was a hail Mary that worked and you can see the stunning and beautiful result in the photos below. Without Warren's patience and determination this never would have been so successful. Every step of the way, he was honest, patient, optimistic and determined. "OMG. They are so beautiful. The jeweler did an absolutely incredible job. They look fantastic. The new strand matches so well you could not even tell it wasn't part of the original necklace. And the whole thing is so polished and sparkling. It looks better than it ever did and it is so nice to know that the strands are secure." Thank you, Warren and thanks to...
Read moreI didn’t know what to do. It had been months since my husband lost his wedding band- AGAIN! Surprising him with a new one for Christmas might not be that hard. The former band lasted the longest. We purchased our matching bands nearly 25yrs ago. The chances of finding our original design seemed slim. Fortunately, Erin and the staff at Mountz DID know what to do! Erin helped me navigate through my ideas and offered options & suggestions of her own. Ultimately, I wanted our bands to match again. Erin sprung into action contacting the manufacturer. It was no longer being made. The idea of having one custom made seemed extravagant. My husband IS worth it but so is living comfortably in our retirement. Another option was finding a band that matched as closely as possible. I loved Erin’s enthusiasm as she came up with a few viable alternatives. She was so excited to help me write this beautiful and fun chapter in the story of our marriage! All while working on that, Erin was in contact with a jeweler to get the cost of pursuing matching bands. It was a little bit more expensive. But through digital imagery, the process was made clear to me and I felt completely comfortable the jeweler understood and could match the design. I decided it WAS worth it and glad I did! I didn’t understand the lasting warmth & ripple of rejuvenation it has brought into our marriage. Slipping our shiny, polished, matching bands has taken us right back to THAT day, before the many years of joys, sorrows and steadfast, loyal love, adding yet another few pages to our story. Erin, and the team at Mountz, not only helped bring my vision to life, she did it with such giddy enthusiasm it made keeping a secret fun! Thank you for helping to create a keepsake and weaving a memory that will last forever! (The ring should too-we sized it extra tight!)It was magical,...
Read moreI purchased a custom-made, 3-stone engagement ring from Mountz and I couldn’t be happier with the service and quality. I had shopped around at tons of other jewelry stores and online sites, but ultimately decided to go with Mountz mainly because of Jana, who was extremely communicative, knowledgeable, trusting, and friendly throughout the pursuit to find the perfect ring.
Mountz has a good selection of rings, but they didn’t have exactly what I was looking for off-the-shelf (nor did other stores). This was no problem for them—Jana took notes and saved pictures of what I wanted, sent me a CAD image of the custom-designed ring, and then went through several iterations of the design with me until it was exactly to my liking. She also brought in loose diamonds (oval shape) so that I could pick from stones of various carat weights, colors, and dimensions. The diamonds she sourced had incredible fire, brilliance, and sparkle scintillation. Finally, she went out of her way to source side stones that were of a somewhat unique color, size, and price combination—they ended up looking perfect with the center stone.
From start to finish, the whole process took about 6 weeks. This surpassed my expectations given the ring was custom-made, I began my shopping during the busy holiday season, and I live out-of-town. Most importantly, the ring is exactly what my future fiancé envisions as her ideal ring, having features like sitting flush with a wedding band, a tapered, thin band, and other elements we incorporated that I know she’ll love. And lastly, it came in under budget and was price competitive with online retailers—much appreciated for such a large purchase.
Big thanks to Jana and the whole Mountz team for delivering an incredibly positive experience for a memory and a ring that will last a lifetime. See you soon for some...
