I had the most insane, traumatizing, and unethical experience at this emergency room on Friday, January 5th 2023. I went in between 4:30am-5:30am with extreme vomiting and diarrhea (almost passed out during triage) so they took me back in the hallway next to the nurses station. I vomited so violently that I thrusted off the edge of my bed and on to the floor. As I was on the floor puking my guts out, I heard a nurse SCREAM at me saying “NOPE, WE ARENT PLAYING THOSE GAMES TODAY. GET UP.” As if I WANTED to be on the hospital floor?? Mind you, I am still in the middle of puking, unable to move or speak at the moment.
She continues to scream at me in front of everyone saying “GET UP RIGHT NOW. IF YOU DONT GET UP I WILL MAKE YOU GET UP”. I still couldn’t move or speak, and I could not believe what was happening in that moment, but it got worse. She gathered the doctor and another nurse who all took me by my arms and pants and thrusted me up off the ground into a wheel chair, all while STILL yelling at me saying things like “THIS IS DISGUSTING. YOU BETTER NOT HURT MY BACK EITHER.”
At this point I was so overwhelmed and in disbelief at how I was being treated so I mustered up the energy to tell them that they were terrible people and that they shouldn’t be nurses if they are willing to treat their patients this way. Then, because they all made the assumption that I was there due to smoking weed (which was NOT the case, I caught a stomach bug from my family members) I felt someone tap me on the shoulder and say “Go smoke another one”. The nurse was insinuating that I should go smoke weed to get myself more sick, even though that’s not even the reason I was there, they just came up with their own assumptions. At that point I freaked out and told them to get the IV out of my arm immediately and that I would go somewhere else. I did not trust being taken care of by these people whatsoever. Why would I when a nurse literally just WISHED harm upon me???
The doctor tried to apologize and say that it wouldn’t happen again but I no longer felt comfortable in their care after that. They called security on me for yelling, even though I was the one being yelled at, harassed and belittled in the first place. I just didn’t keep my mouth shut after all of what was being done/said to me. I’ll never forget my experience today, that’s for sure. I was so scared and sick and just needed help, but they turned it into a nightmare. Don’t ever go to this hospital. They have SICK people working there who SHOULD NOT be in the nursing field. Or any field that involves taking care of/showing compassion to others. I am disgusted by these people. I used to be a CNA. I left that career because of evil, heartless, abusive nurses like the ones I encountered today. There are way too many nurses like that in the healthcare field and...
Read moreThis is one of the worst emergency rooms that I have been to. The receptionist at the front desk was rude and demeaning. To future readers- I am writing this in a time of COVID, where PA has a STRICT mask at all times policy. The front desk person several times let her mask fall below her nose, and did not bother to fix it. She also talked in a LOUD voice, exposing everyone's personal details to everyone in the emergency room. She even told someone to take their mask off so she could hear them better-completely inappropriate in a health care facility of all places along with taking her own mask of) I had to wait for quite a bit, which I didn't really mind because I understood, in any emergency room there are any extenuating circumstances that might lead to long wait times. The receptionist during the night was replaced by a younger person, who left the desk MULTIPLE times and was not there to service phone calls and was quite short with individuals (similar to the first person) who asked her any questions. Later when I had received care with still a IV in my arm, the younger front desk person came in to bill me. This was highly inappropriate, I had not been discharged yet, and I requested that she wait and asked if she could get the nurse, as the IV was bothering me, after which she cut me off and ignore me as I continuously asked for medical help. She then had me sign a variety of things, and when I asked her questions, her only response was that she didn't know- and didn't give any suggestions as to who I could contact. Extremely unprofessional behavior, as all she cared about was getting me out quickly rather than my state of being. Also it was NOT designated by proper signage in the waiting room which area was for individuals who had exposure to COVID-19, only the front desk person designated the difference, and half the time there wasn't even a front desk person. Several people went in the COVID/respiratory area thinking it was additional seating, and sat down until other patients informed them of what it was. I am not certain if the lack of signage or communication to individuals in the emergency room is part of the COVID regulations issued by the state, but I will be in contact with the Pennsylvania Department of Health about this serious issue as several individuals could have been exposed to COVID-19 due to a lack of...
Read moreSo far I have never had a good experience. I have multiple sclerosis and since it is the nearest hospital some times I don't have a choice in where to go for care. The first time I had a attack before being DX'd I visited the ER. I was seen by a Dr. Clifford Cloonan. Who laughed at me and told me my odds of having MS were so small that it wasn't worth any testing. 2 week after this visit I lost my sight. I made plans to visit a doctor in Dillsburg who than sent me to Kilmore Eye who than told me to drive to Hershey Hospital who than admitted me into the hospital and sent me for a MRI and set up a spinal . I was Diagnosed with MS. My husband was diagnosed with Kidney disease and was admitted for 7 days into CRMC. When Friday came apparently all the nurses call off to get their drink on. Over the weekend we seen 1 nurse who showed up. Left a elderly man in the bed next to my husband sit in his own waste for almost the entire day. My husband received Potassium chloride (KCL) - Intravenous (IV) which the nurses kept messing up and the contraption they had set up for it was broken and kept falling off the table. My husband had to keep telling them how to do HIS meds. One of the nurses said that apparently they had killed a person by not giving this med properly. My husband was told by a nurse that the hospital is there for old people and truckers and usually everyone else is sent away with a excuse that the hospital does not have the facilities needed for care. After gallbladder surgery no record was made that I was taking meds for MS. They assumed I was a heroin user and refused me anything for surgery pain ... until my husband and I finally talked the nurse into calling the doctor who performed my surgery who than had to explain that I was indeed NOT a heroin user. Then the last experience was when I was in labor. No one seemed to know how to deliver a baby. The doctor was taking his time to show up. All the nurses were running around screaming at me not to push. I was not given any kind of medication to help with pain was never given a explanation. Very happy I did not have it because I found out a few years later that another couple had a bad experience and she was told not to push and her baby died...
