This is a beautiful park. Lots of stuff to do there. Camping, boating, kayaking, canoeing, horseback riding. It's not a far drive. You can tent camp or bring your RV. Everything about this place is calm and relaxing. A great get away from the norm. I would have given it five stars but the kayak and canoe launch isn't smooth. There are some decent size rocks at the launch that can get slippery. Some are jagged and questionable when you have inflatables. Nevertheless we took out our intex excursion boat and had a blast. Our 65lbs thrust trolling motor got us to almost the entire water area. It would have gotten the entire area but lunch was calling. Plenty of beautiful wildlife to see her. Friendly people everywhere. I do urge people to come and enjoy some fresh air and loads of outdoor fun. After several years of not camping here there has been a few changes. The more expensive cabins have been uprooted taken away. There was a wall with a rail around it to fish from in the campers area that has been removed as well. It makes fishing there a little bit easier. That is a plus. Naturally the prices have gone up some. But still worth every penny!!! Don't hesitate or you might miss out. They book up pretty fast!!!!
This place is still amazing. The people are friendly just as always. The bench seats that double up as twin beds seems bigger. Such a big plus for some of us bigger people. Our camp host was a lot of fun. Thank you to the entire staff for being...
Read moreI used to come here a lot back in the day and it's definitely a place you can lose yourself and forgetting that you're right down the road from the tragic and abandoned Cincinnati Mills Mall, formally the forest fair mall and filled with fun. Now only filled with the spirits of the dead and mold.
I think the more that the old Cincinnati Mills mall decays the better Winton Woods gets like a Dorian Gray type deal but the Great Parks of Hamilton County is pretty secretive about its use of magic and witchcraft.
In any case, this is a good park for kids and adults who are looking to get away from said kids. Pretty sure they have play water features at the harbor area but they don't always come on because they're run by timers that park-people don't control. They have great paddle boats and a bigger lake than Sharon Woods. They have multiple different places to park and just wander around and they have a big loop trail too around the lake if you're looking to end up where you started eventually so you don't have to turn around and come down a path that you've already been down. That last sentence has deep metaphor potential, but honestly I'm just talking about the...
Read moreI loves Winton Woods as it is literally outside of my neighborhood. We kayak and fish here regularly(PLEASE PUT IN A KAYAK LAUNCH LIKE AT MIAMI WHITEWATER AND ADD MORE LAUNCH POINTS!!! PLEASE!) We walk the dog, and love to get ice cream! It has great trails, tons and tons of picnic areas, a splash park and has several playgrounds thru out the park. My only true complaint is the the mess that others leave along the banks where they fish. We have a great creek to kayak in and all along you can tell where people have been fishing. They literally leave everything they brought behind. I wish the great parks rangers would focus on this and fine a few people and put up some littering signs. When the water rises, it's terrible how much trash ends up in our beautiful lake. And it's starting to show, the water doesn't get as clear as it should. It's a shame and could so easily be curbed in another directing after a few people get fined for littering. Otherwise, even on days we plan to go somewhere new to kayak and fish, we still find ourselves going to Winton because it's just too convenient. It truly has so much to offer and there so many different ways to spend...
