The hike to the falls was incredible, our family enjoyed! The waterfalls were definitely five stars, so I regret to give this review a three. However nice the hike was, two stars were taken away because of the customer service we received in the visitor center. Our kiddos are hardcore junior rangers and big fans of national parks so they were overjoyed at hearing this park had a junior ranger program! Be warned, the employees here are not NATIONAL PARK RANGERS, so apparently they are incapable of giving the children toy badges, even when the booklet was completed in their visitor center as they enforced. This unnecessary exhibition of power these employees decided to demonstrate and their lack of communication really put a damper on the experience. They delivered the expectation we would drive 15 miles to another national park to receive the badges they were hoarding behind their desk. Hopefully next time my family can come to enjoy these beautiful falls, there will be understanding people who will keep the spirit of this...

Easy walk and great views at three different overlooks. Very pleasant waterfalls and the trails are great.

Why four stars? I’ve been to numerous waterfalls which are all generally maintained by their respective states and nearly all have gravel or paved parking lots and maintained trails that are easy enough for elderly and young children to walk. This waterfall’s trail from the parking lot isn’t maintained and is thick mud when wet… way too easy to fall for young children and elderly visitors.

At the top of the overlooks, there are very little in the way of security barriers/fences to protect visitors from accidentally falling over to a perilous fate. At the same time, that leaves a fantastic view to photograph! Just be aware that you need to keep a close eye on your children, as you should regardless of where you are at.

Overall a fantastic place to visit with great views of the waterfalls and downstream river. Worth the...

Myself and some friends visited Linville Falls yesterday, but due to time constraints, we only walked the 0.5 mile trail to the view of the upper falls. The view itself is beautiful, and can be seen with the pictures attached. The trail was very clean, very downhill at first which can be a challenge for those with physical limitations. Accessing the waterfall area itself on this trail, I would not recommend it for the physically disabled either. If you have the time, I strongly recommend doing more of the trails to view the lower falls, it is for sure worth it! As for parking, we were there around 11:30am-12:00pm on a Sunday (this was also Memorial Day weekend), and it was incredibly busy. Although we found parking with ease, as we were leaving, many cars were in the road waiting to park. Overall, it's a beautiful location and definitely worth the trip...

There are no public restroom. This is my first hike to see a waterfall. I learned the sound of an actual waterfall can make me feel like wanting to go to pee and there is no restroom! For a city foodie gal, I realized how out of shape I am, how exhausting walking up the mountain can be, how dull and boring to walk in a rocky trailing path surrounded by rocks and dormant trees. I think making a trip out here during the fall when leaves are changing colors would be a more pleasant trip. My friend's family had a fun time. My kids enjoyed their first hike. I personally learn that I do not know how to enjoy this kind of nature walk. I prefer taking an endless walk at the Dallas Arboretum surrounded with a zillion colors year round instead.

Linville Falls is probably the most developed part of the Gorge area that I have visited. There are multiple parking lots with different trails, all leading to the Falls. One of the trails is off of the visitor center. The trails have a few spots with some cool sights of the falls. The overlooks were the highlight of my time here. I kind of prefer a more rugged trail with the ability to branch off and explore when the mood strikes. A lot of the trails here are pretty restricted as far as where you are allowed to go. This was also the busiest area we visited. It's cool here, though. It's worth a visit. Plus, the visitor center has a shop, bathrooms, and maps. All fairly easily accessible and walkable from any of the lots.
