Beautiful scenery, but a bit of a tourist trap. They also blocked off access at the lower viewing platform where you used to be able to get a closer view of the falls. Yet they left the previous structure/fence up so you can't even get a good picture of the falls without the old unused fencing in the way lol. The upper overlooks offer a great view of the people below; strange design. The gorge itself is still absolutely beautiful though. This would have been 5 stars if more effort was made to preserve the natural setting. Kind of a shame what so many of these areas have become. Trails are short & easy though, so...

Great place for families. We rented a small primitive cabin for 5 days and was very pleased. The hike to the waterfall isn't to bad either. It does have a bit of uphill and downhill but isn't too strenuous. The people tha worked here were very friendly as well, don't forget to buy something home made at the shop. I can say I wish the small cabin wasn't right off the side of the road that kinda took the adventurous feel away but hey it was worth the stay. Hope you at wayne your family has a wonderful time. Can't wait to hear...

I absolutely adore Linville falls. From the parking area, to the falls, farther down to the gorge, every inch of this place is beautiful. From spring, summer, to fall and even winter this place has so many different things to look at and explore. The trails vary from easy to moderate. They do that a short trail that just goes down to the falls and it's easy for every one. Everything is marked and they have a map in the parking areas. If you havent been here you must...

Mountains, waterfalls, and breweries galore! It’s the perfect summer adventure destination. Oh yeah, the food is pretty great too! Here are some musts for your trip list.👇🏼 📍Linville Gorge -Table Rock, Shortoff mountain, and the Chimneys are epic hikes! 📍Grandfather Mountain State Park -Cross Mile High Swinging bridge -Hike the Grandfather Trail to McRae peak (or Calloway) 📍Mt. Mitchell State Park -Summit the highest peak east of the Mississippi! 📍Waterfall hikes -Crabtree and Catawba Falls are two moderate hikes shown here. 📍Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway -Stop at an overlook for sunset (try Craggy) -Hike Rough Ridge Trail 📍Chimney Rock State Park -See Hickory Nut Falls. -Great brewery nearby 🍺Visit all the breweries! We enjoyed: -Burial -Dissolvr -Catawba -Eurisko -Highland -Bhramani -Twin Leaf -Hickory Nut Gorge -White Labs -Booneshine 🌯Favorite eats by far were Chai Pani and Red Ginger! ➡️Save this itinerary for your trip and follow @krismariawanders for more hike and travel inspo! Please remember to protect these beautiful outdoors areas by leaving no trace of your visit.❤️

Backpacking in Linville Gorge over July 4th weekend. What could be better?! Would you camp at this spot? I recommend parking at the linville falls visitor center so that you can use restrooms there. If you follow what Google maps tells you, then it'll show you a different parking lot without restrooms. About 0.5 miles to the waterfall from the visitor center or the other parking lot that Google puts you at. 3 different views. Add another 0.5 miles for each different view. You can't touch these waterfalls because of how rapid the water is.
