Steelville City Park — Attraction in St. James

Very nice park the grass is always kept mowed very well . There is a large pool with water slides and they have movie nights at the pool . There is a basketball court, tennis court , handball , baseball fields, football/ soccer field and qaurter mile track ,a very large covered stage, 2 large pavilions ,running water bathrooms, big sandbox and a playground , couple of horseshoe pits. There is also a paved walk trail that leads back towards the center of town along the creek and it crosses the creek 3 times . The trail is half a mile one way with benches along the way that have been replaced last year with new ones to stop and enjoy the creek views or rest. There are also other big open grassy areas to use. There are several tables and grills spread out away from the ones at the pavilions . They are out in grassy areas under big shady trees some out in the open sky areas . There are also benches all over the park that have been replaced last year with new ones to stop and rest or just enjoy the day. There's even a modest but very fun hill to sled ride down...

First week of December. Steelville Historical society recognized the Trail of Tears that passed through this location. They work so diligently to better the park and work towards making it a place of welcome...

Small park with sum amenities, good place for bike riding but it pales in comparison to the near by national parks and canoeing...
