DPA Program Staff are negligent and condescending. I paid $175 to get my time wasted and talked down on.
For context, I attended their homebuying class and then was told to gather documents and later set up an appointment. I called trying to set up a meeting, and they said they were having computer issues, took down my name and phone number, and said they would get back to me. It's okay, I get it. A week later I call again to check in, same process of "we will get back to you" ^^ LIES ^^ Countless more calls and a month passes, my husband had to be the one to press them for an appointment. At this point we are nearing our closing date and had NO IDEA we needed an inspection that takes two weeks... in five days...
When I tried speaking to the staff about what I can do, they cut me off and spoke to me like I was stupid. I was asked "Do you know that lead paint is toxic?" Yes?? Of course I do??? Ms. JiVonda Williams your tone was very very condescending. I was transferred to another woman who didn't even let me speak. When I brought up how I had TRIED to schedule an appointment more than a month ago, she replied with "We are here every day." Then why did you never get back to me in the first place? What else have you been doing "everyday"?
At this point I was terribly upset and wanted to end the call. I have spoken to my loan officer and recommend their company cut relationships with BFL. I will soon be making a call to formally complain about this terrible lack of...
Read moreThis place is so useless please help me understand how do you put a better family life in a predominantly low income troubled neighborhood and charge a arm and a leg for the programs for our youth. I visited on Tuesday evening to try to see what type of programs do they have for my 2 teens to try to keep them out trouble for the summer, I was told the only program that they had was summer camp a and the cost for the remaining weeks for summer camp would be $233 a child, most people that live in this area don't have that kind of money, which is the main reason most of us single low income parents choose to live in this neighborhood because it's all that we can afford . But anyway I explained that to the gentleman who told me about the summer program he took me downstairs to speak with the program to see if it was anything she could do, they all looked at me like I was crazy and told me sorry they couldn't help . Now what's interesting is I'm coming to a community asking for help with my two teens and I'm not getting it but God forbid in the wake of tragedy like the shooting that just happened downtown with the teens I swear they'll try to give you all the help in the world which is backwards because we come to you before the tragedy even strikes and are turned away which lets me know that you all do not care about our children and it's all about money , why not offer free or discounted programs for the low-income children in the neighborhood what's the point of it...

Even if it is sitting behind their desk & listening with sincere concern about you lively hood and making an effort to point you to the right direction that’ will help you and encourage you that you are not alone. More importantly, staff honor their commitment and call you yo further the help and process that’s needed. They don’t only talk talk, but also walk the walk. It’s blessing to know there’s a black community center that’s connected and concerned about the black community. BFL is a pillar of the community, and not only this community but offer help to ST. Louis residents as a whole no matter what the color of...
