Union Avenue Opera — Attraction in St. Louis

Last night's production of Bernstein's Candide was nothing short of fabulous. Union Avenue Opera does a wonderful job with limited resources and a small stage. It was, as always, a showcase for amazing singing. Jesse Darden's Broadway-worthy voice was marvelous. Brooklyn Snow's effortless voice came close to shattering the beautiful stained-glass windows in the sublime old church that serves as the venue. But my star was Christopher Nelson, whose rich tenor voice belongs in Italian opera. The small orchestra produces a large and flawless music -- their rendition of the famous overture was superb, and all the music was delivered perfectly -- they make it look easy. I was blown...

Saw "My Fair Lady" my first time at Union Avenue Opera and had a wonderful time! We sat in the balcony seats and had a great view, but it looked like you would get a great view from any seat due to the stage being smaller. The actors were fantastic! I was blown away! My only complaint was that there didn't seem to be any air conditioning, so be prepared for that. However, I will definitely be returning and telling others about...
