Designed Images Hair Salon — Attraction in St. Louis

I normally prefer to support local businesses and rarely write negative reviews, but my experience at Designed Images Hair Salon in St. Louis was so poor that I feel obligated to share it as a caution to others. What should have been a simple salon visit turned into one of the most unprofessional and uncomfortable service experiences I have ever had.

From the moment I entered, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming. The stylist who worked on my hair made little effort to listen to my requests or understand what I wanted. Instead of creating a collaborative and professional environment, she dismissed my input, rushed through the process, and behaved as though providing service to me was a burden. This lack of courtesy set the tone for the entire appointment.

What made matters worse was the sense of bias and discriminatory undertones in the way I was treated. While I cannot assume intent, the stylist’s tone, body language, and dismissive responses made me feel singled out in a way that no paying customer should experience. A salon should be a place where every client feels valued, comfortable, and respected — unfortunately, that was not the case here.

The actual results of the service were equally unacceptable. The cut and style I received were uneven, sloppy, and bore little resemblance to what I had asked for. It was clear that either the training, the skill level, or the attention to detail was simply not there. After leaving the salon, I immediately had to spend additional time and money elsewhere to have my hair corrected.

Equally concerning was the lack of accountability. There was no attempt made to ensure customer satisfaction, no follow-up, and no sense of responsibility for the poor quality of work. Instead, I was left with the impression that client care and professional standards are not a priority at this establishment.

In a city as large and diverse as St. Louis, there are countless salons where professionalism, courtesy, and skill are the foundation of their business. Based on my experience, Designed Images Hair Salon falls far short of that standard. I strongly urge others to consider alternative salons that value both their craft and their customers.

I give up. And, just because you have wavy/curly hair DOES NOT mean you know how to cut. I have been wearing my hair up since you cut it. Why did you put it in “pins” quickly under a hair dryer after???! I had to find out afterwards, Antionette, i had to find out when I washed my hair and tried to style and found out - there’s NO way, and it’s not just about the colic. I do not know what you did to my hair, but it has no shape or style whatsoever and there is no way I can even style it. The Redken color you put on my hair did not last long at all. I can live with that, but not my hair! I gave you a great tip thinking my hair would look good. I did not want to leave this review. But.Your words stated you knew how to cut wavy hair. I paid for a good hair cut & color, and it truly is just horrible. Ask me to come in so you can see it!!! I have to take it down first ‘cuz it looks horrible, and .I hate wearing it up.all the time!. I waited, and waited for it to grow into or out of this…. You appeared to be nice -and talked like a capable person.
