We arrived and it was too warm to sit in their ample outside seating. We were seated inside, where it was cool. There were many ample TVs with sports to view, and speakers with a mix of music that sometimes was so loud it was difficult to talk to my companion across the table. The waitress we had was very unwelcoming. (I would be happy to discuss this more in detail with SOHA directly if interested in details.) The menu had a focus on burgers and appetizers. We selected the fried goat cheese appetizer which we both enjoyed. I tried one of the burgers. The menu is very confusing as to the price of these. If you select one of their signature burgers, they list the the toppings. If the the diner then wishes to know the price, you must go to the top of the menu where there is an assigned price to each item, such as "cheddar cheese $1" or "onion rings $2" (the last is a guess as I did not memorize the menu). So depending on the size of the hamburger you select and these are offered in increments of 5 ounces, and the toppings that are desired, the price is calculated. As to the hamburger size, I was surprised that a 10 ounce burger is actually 2 five ounce burgers when it arrives on ones plate. I had wrongly assumed from the pictures that they burger size of each increased accordingly, not that I would receive multiple patties. Speaking of the hamburger, mine arrived dry and with little flavor. It WAS disappointing as I read the reviews and saw that the burgers fair quite well among the reviewers. Parking was a bit of an issue as well. The ambiance of the place was bar, and seemed in need of a good cleaning and fresh paint. We were greeted warmly upon entering the facility.3 My companion had the blackened mahi sandwich. She did not find anything remarkable to comment on it about. We did like the the house made potato chips and the fried goat cheese appetizers, hower, I doubt if we will...
Read moreSOHA used to be our go to place, with $5 burgers and great bartenders there wasn't much else we wanted. Then we had a kid and needed to sit at a real table and while we knew the table service wasn't particularly fast (very friendly but not super quick) the last two visits convinced us that we probably won't be back. Tonight for instance we had to wait for drinks which while normal is pretty annoying, what isn't normal is to have to ask how much longer on our food after right around 30 minutes of waiting. The initial reaction from the server was to inform us that they just got out food for a 30ish top and that the kitchen would be working on our food now. While I understand that excuse, why on earth wouldn't you tell me before I ordered or at any point the the 30 minutes I was waiting? So I asked him how much longer the wait would be and our server disappears in the back to see. I wait 5 minutes and since I hadn't seen him yet I decide to leave with the kiddo since she is getting restless and ask my wife to ask them to pack up the food togo. At the end of the day it took over 15 minutes to get us the food after we asked how much longer and while I understand that things happen a little heads up would have gone a long way. Now the server did try to make it right I guess by discounting one drink that my wife got from Tito's to their well price. To be fair though the server did forget to ring that drink it and had to confirm what it was again with my wife after a decent amount of time. Farewell SOHA it was a great ride...
Read moreI don't know what happened but please reverse it immediately. This was a go-to spot for good variety of bar food and drinks..now, it's a bit drab with a small menu and the food was nowhere near as good as it used to be. I loved getting tacos which aren't available anymore, but I've also had the chicken strips, fries, nachos, boneless chicken bites, and more. The nacho cheese they use now is.. interesting to say the least. It's made with some sort of sweetener and though the waitress did mention that it would have a hint of sweetness, I didn't expect it to be as pronounced as it was. Who adds sugar to nacho cheese?🥴 Also, the chicken strips seemed to be made with a cornflake coating because they were slightly charred and also had that hint of sweet taste to them. Is sugar being added to everything on the menu or something?
I hope this place reverses whatever changes they made because it was clear to me that the customers aren't feeling it. The vibe was dry for a Saturday night. The food's just not good anymore. The hosts and waiters are always wonderful, so...
