Hampton Animal Hospital — Attraction in St. Louis

To summarize, I couldn't be more satisfied with my experience today. Miss Peaches is an angel on Earth and Dr. Schwartz is a very kind man.

My cat Tonnie has had a cold for the last week or so. I thought maybe it would clear up on its own, but within the last 24 hours its gotten a lot worse and she has been having trouble breathing. I called probably 20+ offices looking for someone that could see us as a new patient TODAY. It became clear the only options I had were the emergency pet clinics; we were going to go to Webster Groves before I started reading some of their Google reviews after noticing their low rating (go see for yourself, that's not the type of place I wanted to take my baby). I kept making call after call working my way down a list of vets on Google looking for another option until I found Hampton Animal Hospital. Peaches was the person on the other end of the line, she went positively ABOVE AND BEYOND for us. While they did not have any availability at this particular location, she advised me to call the other location in St. Peters. I was told by the person working the desk there that they were full for today. Peaches called me back to see if I was able to make an appointment and then reached out to the owner herself to make sure we could be seen today. I then had an appointment immediately and was able to go directly there. Dr. Schwartz and his staff took excellent care of my baby! After every "No" I heard today, this staff did everything they could to accommodate us so my cat could have some relief and I could have some peace of mind. I don't often write online reviews, but I really wanted to take the time to recognize this establishment. Customer service like this is difficult to come by nowadays; this staffs kindness went so far when I was dealing with a scary situation. I have been searching for a new vet for awhile and I was not disappointed by Hampton Animal Hospital in the slightest! This place is INCREDIBLE! I called last minute and they got me in the next day for BOTH of my cats at the same time! The entire staff was so welcoming and truly made me feel like my animals were loved and cared for. The space itself is small scale, but it works only in their favor. It was quiet and calm and not rowdy at any point. I have been to other vets that have roughly handled my skittish cats and scared them even before poking and prodding and shoving me out the door as to fit someone else in as quickly as possible. All of the ladies I worked with today were open and honest about what they were doing and why, educated me in the proper at home care, and the vet herself offered me factual evidence to back up her recommendations. My cats are registered ESAs so I get nervous taking them to new places to see new people because I rely on them for many things and hate to see them stressed out. Hampton Animal Hospital relieved all of my anxieties, made me feel so welcomed, and helped me leave with cool, calm, and collected kitties all without draining my bank account. I had to say goodbye to my beloved elder dog, Sophia, by euthanasia. After recently moving, I didn’t have a vet in the area, but by the grace of God, I found Hampton Animal Hospital. The staff and veterinarian were incredibly gentle, loving, and kind to both me and Sophia during this difficult time.

Having been to many vets in the past, I’ve often felt that the focus was more on profit and efficiency than on genuine care. However, my experience at Hampton was truly different. In the past, I had to put a pet down in a manner that felt rushed and impersonal. This was not the case here.

The vet prioritized Sophia’s comfort, administering sedation first so that I could hold and love her until I was ready. They gave her a euphoric drug to ensure her final moments were filled with peace and happiness. As the final injection was given, we both talked to her and showered her with love. It was the most compassionate way I could imagine to help my dog cross to the Rainbow Bridge.
