Been going to lake Lanier Buford dam since I was a kid. From church summer picnic gatherings, weekend picnic out at the lake with family and close friends, to party events. Never really went out here on my own until few years ago. Whenever the weather hits the 80s I'm for sure am out and about in the lake Lanier area hiking, running, and swimming. Recently added this beach area where I recuperate from the whack a** life of the suburbs. Really nice area to unwind during the weekdays. Weekends are super pack with families and groups grilling out....

We tried to enter 8.31.25. Cones were blocked off so we couldnโ€™t enter. We tried to pull over and request info from the park ranger. We were aggressively yelled at by a young man (the ranger), blond hair, quite ugly. He started threatening me saying, โ€œkeep driving or see what happens. Turn your head or watch what happens to you.โ€

Literally was just trying to inquire more because I have two little kids and itโ€™s not easy waiting around for 50 minutes.

This was some of the rudest behavior Iโ€™ve ever encountered at a park and completely...

We are an avid kayaking family and have only been on Lake Alatoona. Lake Lanier is 100% cleaner. We like to set up camp when we get out into the coves, eat lunch and dinner over our propane grill. There was trash but to be honest the hiking and exploring my 2 and 4 yes old had a blast. The island we camped at today a zero depth entry for about 100ft out into the water so it was perfect for swimming with my kids. My husband got to fish while we explored...

It's bad enough that people don't pick up after themselves, and the "beach area" is covered in litter, but every single trash can was overflowing. You could smell it before you could even see it. Super disappointing how far this place has fallen, especially after they upped the price for entrance.
