I walked here the day after Christmas with my adult daughter, and I was amazed how nice these trails were. Lots of mature trees, occasional glimpses of the Brazos river through the forest, and several short loops to keep it interesting. I was amazed how green the forest floor was in late December, although this has been a very warm winter, so far. These 3 photos were taken by my daughter, Robin Stevens, who is a professor of Neuroscience and also science for non-science majors at Boston University, and a 2nd-degree black belt. Can you tell that I’m proud of her?

The RiverPark Nature Trails offer a serene and immersive natural experience. These well-maintained trails, ideal for walking, hiking, running and biking, wind through a diverse landscape, showcasing a mix of native vegetation, including hardwood forests, wetlands, and open grass areas. The Brazos Trail is an Out-and-Back one while Heron and Cottonwood are loops, all great for nature enthusiasts and those seeking a tranquil escape from urban life.

Very nice hiking trail. I'd been having trouble finding hiking trails in Fort Bend where it wasn't man made or mostly flat ground/mud. This hiking trail did not disappoint! Lots of trees, and most are big/ tall enough to provide plenty of shade. This hiking area is also the perfect size to be able to "escape from civilization " for a bit :) I recommend bringing a flashlight if you're going on a early morning hike.

Pros: It’s very secluded considering you’re in Sugarland. There is fishing access to the Brazos. Trails are well defined. Lots of wildlife. Good for hikers who want some seclusion.

Cons: No parking near trailheads unless you want to park in front of someone’s house. We parked in a nearby church parking lot and walked to it. Trail floods in places when the Brazos is high. Not stroller friendly. Trails are hilly and can get very muddy with roots exposed. Mosquitos are a problem bc of...

I stumbled upon this trail just by chance after googling "hiking near me". I am surprised it is not advertised more. It was such great Sunday afternoon fun for my family and I. We really enjoyed our hike. There were several bikers we saw and one other hiker. We will definitely be going back! Come prepared with mosquito spray and watch the sand if you go down by the river (you sink in it quickly and it doesn't look muddy but is very much so). Small trail but very nice and easy to...
