A nice little gem. During the fall it’s one of the few areas where you can see leaves change. On the weekends it is full with families on picnics or couples getting photos. Red rock is right above you and offers a great backdrop. I’m sad to say the boardwalk has fallen into disrepair and several spots in the meadow have been trampled as people often disregard the signs to stay on the walkway. Litter was also a common sight along the walkway. It is common to see families in the grass or the trees trying to get that perfect picture. Please, please, please don’t be that person. While more could have been done to prevent the damage currently done, we all can do our part in ensuring this gem is accessible to everyone for years to come.

This is such a tremendously beautiful and well maintained area in which to experience the grandeur of the Red Rock area - and best of all, it's free! There is a nice picnic area at the parking lot with basic restroo facilities available. From there you can take the trail or boardwalk/stairwell that will take you up past lush, spring-fed vegetation. There is a great abundance of life buzzing here against the stark backdrop of gorgeous red boulders and the La Madre Mountains. This is a very easy walking area suitable for people of all ages and physical ability. With an easy pace you can easily spend half an hour here.

You don’t have to be a desert rat to embrace the colors and panoramic views red rock canyon. There are several hiking trails with different degrees of difficulty and they’re all very well marked. For the most part the entire area is kept very pristine. Located just west of Summerlin and Las Vegas there are plenty of viewpoints to get great pictures. If you plan on hiking keep in mind that this is desert and The temperatures are well into the hundreds during the summer time. Be prepared.
