When you stay in at Howard Finster's Paradise Garden in Summerville, Georgia, they give you a key to explore after hours 😱 🖼️ We took advantage of the opportunity…#travelwithdogs #art #howardfinster #explore

We stopped at Paradise Garden on a whim during a trip with no destination in mind. We were on the highway, saw the sign, and said "Hey! Let's turn left and see what that is." No idea what it was, what to expect, or any details at all. Honestly thought it may be some walkways through a flower garden or something. I loved it!! I will not lie and pretend that I knew who Reverend Finster was, or that I ever noticed his art before. But, I do now! I think I liked it a little more than my daughter. She didn't seem bored or anything. I believe she's just not into "weird" as much as I am. I love weird, strange, unusual. And there is a lot of it here. Don't get me wrong, there is ART with all caps, vision, dreams, inspiration, and more, but I loved the different-ness, unusual and strange. I wouldn't think that visiting here with young children in the middle of summer would be great, or trying to enjoy your visit in high heels and a nice dress, but other than that do yourself a favor and go visit this place. I took many pictures and was going to share them on this review, but for me one of the greatest joys of our visit was not having a clue what to expect. So, I'm just going to pick my favorite 3 pictures and that's all you get. You'll have to visit to see it all. Oh... make sure you have time to enjoy. Don't walk through at a brisk pace. Take your time and soak it all in. Please. You won't regret it!

Incredible campus of folk art, including buildings, 2D and 3D art. Learn everything you'd ever want to know about Howard Finster. Wander the grounds to see art around every corner. Also includes his workshops and collections of items he planned to use for art later. The man was very religious, so if you roll your eyes at that type of stuff, this place may not be ideal. He obviously faced some neuro divergent challenges and these are exhibited in the massive collections of sorted metal pieces hung from individual nails on the walls. Felt slightly invasive in that way, but an incredible opportunity to get a real inside look. Keep your eyes on the paved paths for art under foot. Our pre-teens enjoyed the photo scavenger hunt very much. Worth a trip out to see everything.

My husband and I spent the weekend at the Howard Finster 2 bedroom Airbnb at Paradise Garden. I was supposed to leave a review by May 31, but unfortunately I ran over the cut off so I'm leaving a review here instead.

This was the absolute best Airbnb I have ever stayed in (and I'm pretty sure my husband would agree as well.) The house was very comfortable and uniquely decorated, and I loved being able to play with all the cats. The entire weekend felt surreal and oftentimes very spiritual. Being able to walk out the back door at 5:30 am with my headphones on and a coffee in hand and tour the garden each morning alone at my leisure felt like a privilege. Walking through the garden each night with my husband and sharing all the cool things we would find was a very special experience for both of us.

The garden was amazing and I think we probably spent 10 or 11 hours walking through everything and taking pictures of the things we didn't want to forget. I wish I could have met Howard. We have a lot in common and it fills my heart to think about the people who are putting the time and effort into preserving this special place for past and future visitors. I hope we get the chance to go back again one day. I imagine this place isn't for everyone, but I believe the people who are supposed to find their way to the...

Everything I am saying is my opion on This place. This place is ridiculous to me! Prices are out rages. They said that it was created by a guy that talked to God told him to build this place to get people to believe in God before he comes back to earth. I am 100% believer of the almighty but my thing is this. "when the man talk to God, did God tell him to price it so high for people can not afford to get in? In my opinion, God does not make you pay money to belive in him! This would have been Awsome if it was not a money racket. I'm sorry God would not have somebody build somthing for people to come for God and charge people a arm and leg and turn them away because they don't have that kinda of money! This is a money racket in my opinion and I don't think this is all cracked up to be what they say it is. I hope I'm wrong because...
