Very unsatisfied with service. Here is my experience with Norman's Electronics in 2015. In Sept I had a power surge at my house, which I believe blew out the HDMI processors in my Samsung Plasma TV. I loved my TV, and wanted to repair it and not have to buy a new one. I called Norman's. It took a few weeks, but a tech finally came out.
Sept 30 -- Tech comes out. Does not physically touch the TV. Agrees that the processing board is shot, and charges me $109 for the visit and $226 to buy the part. These amounts are immediately charged to my credit card. He says the part should arrive in a couple of weeks, and that I should call them to check.
Oct 20 -- Had heard nothing. Called about the part. No answer. Called back later in the day. They said the part was scheduled to arrive in six days, and that they tentatively scheduled a repair for Oct 26. This repair was scheduled without talking to me. They said to call back Oct 23 to check.
Oct 23 -- Called back. They said the part was impossible to get, and they could come out and remove the part, and send it off for repair. I asked about cost. The guy I spoke with wasn't sure, but said that he would have a repair technician call me the morning of Oct 26.
Oct 30 -- No one called me. I called them back. I was forwarded to a technician's voice mail. I left a message asking that he call me back. I never heard from him.
Nov 4 -- Norman's has still, not once, communicated anything to me in any way. I see that $226 has been refunded to my credit card.
Nov 7 -- Called Norman's again. Spoke with someone and asked for all of my money back. They apologized for not being able to repair the TV. I explained that my issue was not with my TV not being repaired, it was with their poor service and communication. This person had to escalate the issue. Later in the day they called back to say they would refund all of my money. Finally, Norman's contacts me.
Dec 7 -- I check my credit card statement and see no refund. I call them. The person I speak with says they have to check with Billing. I ask that I be called back with an update. He agrees to call me back.
Dec 9 -- Still have heard nothing, however they did refund my money.
Norman's Electronics gets one star from me because of a failure. The failure is not that they were unable to repair my TV. The failure is that they did not communicate with me in anyway about the progress of the repair, even when they...
Read moreDenon use Norman as repair center for the south east. I called both Denon in New Jersey and Norman (Denon's official repair center in South East) in Atlanta to get an idea of turn around time. Norman is quicker ( one week less compare to Denon's quote) and closer, so I send my receiver to Norman for repair. I asked what I need to send it, was told, the cable, remote, proof of purchase with the date clearly marked. My unit is still in warranty. I have it for only 4 months. I forgot to ship with my remote, and the customer service rep. say that is okay. Not to worry.
After the second week, I started calling Noramn twice a week to check on status. They told me the technician will contact me once the unit is repair, no need to call them. Really? Took them 7 weeks to repair my receiver (due to the part need to be obtain from Denon, and is back order). I should have send to Denon to begin with. That would cut a week out for the part to ship to Norman.
The technician never call me like the reps claim they would. I have to call them to find out the unit is repaired and it will ship out the next day. I have to ask for the technician to obtained additional information regarding what's wrong with the unit.
Next day came, it never got ship out. Took them 3 more days to ship the receiver out. Their rep's answers never match their actions. 3 weeks without a receiver is a big difference compare to 7.5 weeks.
Unit finally arrive, notice my power cord is missing, call them and ask for it. Rep say it is not their responsibility for additional parts that shipped with the unit to Norman. I am so glad I didn't send my remote in. I ask them to look for it, rep say they might have any extra cord they can send me.
Two hours later, I found an extra cord I can use, I call them back to let them know I am ok without the power cord. This rep say she didn't aware of my previous conservation with the other rep. The previous rep didn't write any note down.
Finally set up the receiver, and notice the front panel cover is missing on the receiver, the story never end. Now I have to call Norman and Denon to figure where I can obtain the...
Read moreMy advice is to never use Norman's Electronics, Inc. in Atlanta or purchase anything from Panasonic. In July 2015, I purchased a Panasonic vacuum cleaner from Amazon (1st mistake). It cost me $106.00. 2 months after I started using it , the head or connector where you put your extension poles in came off of the hose. I took it to my local vacuum cleaner service guy who told me the closest place for warranty service from Birmingham for Panasonic, was Norman's Electronics Inc. in Atlanta. He also told me that these heads were glued to the hose at the manufacturer. Well, that explained that. They are cheaply made. You get what you pay for. In order to use it until I could take it to be serviced, I used masking tape to keep the hose and head together. I just got the opportunity last week to take it and when I walked in the guy behind the desk told me that it would not be covered under warranty because it was being cosmetically altered because of it being taped up. I told him how else could I have been using it? He just looked at me like I was crazy. He submitted it anyway, and when I picked it up I was told by a different person, that they had manually tightened the hose and the head together. This meant that they had screwed the head into the hose indentions. There was no thread to tighten into like a screw would tighten into threads. What Moran's. I immediately told him that this was stupid and it would not work. He assured me that it would. Well guess what? 2 minutes after I started to use it the hose came off again. I was livid. I had expected them to do the right thing a replace the hose. But NO!!! They were too cheap t do the right thing. I would have been embarrassed to have let something that stupid go out of my store if I were the owner of Norman's. I am sending them a letter right now but I do not expect anything from it. That is why I am advising everyone to stay away from Norman's Electronics in Atlanta, GA. They are a poor excuse of a company who are proud of there work...
