This picturesque oasis, nestled right in the heart of the city, is a haven of tranquility amidst the urban hustle, and yet it's so much more.
The first striking aspect of Titlow Park is the extensive beach frontage that it boasts. The beach is a sight to behold, with its gently lapping waves and shimmering sands that warmly invite you to step in and experience the soothing embrace of nature. Whether it's strolling along the shoreline, building sandcastles, or simply unwinding and watching the sunset paint hues of pink and orange in the sky, there's something inherently calming about this place.
For families with children, Titlow Park is a dream come true. The kids' spray park is a bubbling, gurgling wonderland that excites the little ones with its vibrant array of features. The sheer joy that lights up their faces as they dash through the fountains is a sight that would warm any heart.
The playgrounds, well-maintained and full of fun-filled equipment, provide plenty of opportunities for the young ones to engage in active play, stimulating their physical growth and social interactions. The soft, safe surfaces put any parent's mind at ease, allowing them to enjoy their time at the park as much as their kids do.
For those seeking a more peaceful pastime, the well-marked and beautifully maintained trails offer a peaceful escape. A leisurely stroll or a brisk jog through these nature trails immerses you in the park's rich biodiversity, making every visit a novel experience.
Titlow Park's tennis courts are another highlight, catering to both casual and serious players. These well-kept courts, surrounded by lush greenery, offer an inspiring environment for a good game of tennis or just to practice your swings.
Titlow Park truly is an embodiment of versatility and inclusion. It caters to the needs of every visitor, making it the perfect place for a chill day, whether you're looking for relaxation, recreational activities, or a mixture of both. Each visit leaves you feeling refreshed and reconnected with nature, reminding you of the simple joys that life has to offer. Read moreThis place has it all sort of. It has a large history in Tacoma as a place to gather for events, and was once part of a Boy Scout Camp, not sure if the details but that part has been added to the park and the buildings and structures removed, still added a nice chunk of walking trails and forested area to the park. It has a water feature for the kids on hot days, a set of train tracks if you are a fan of trains, you can sit and watch the cars roll by. Also has a beach to walk on when the tide is out. And on that beach there is even a nice high clay bank with layers of strata that can be studied during low tide. I have not spent much time there yet to see if it has fossils or just ash and rock layers but I imagine with a bit of research and reading, there are ways to find out just how old, how these layers were made, and just what the native people in the region, back in the day, told their children about these cliffs. It's also a nice view of the Narrows Bridges. I live close by so I have a habit of taking my child there to waste time, collect rocks, sea glass, shells, and of course on the rare occasion to see the wild life of the Puget Sound, like orcas, and other marine life, mostly seals and all kinds of birds. I have also been told it's not a bad fishing spot but I have yet to throw a hook out to see...
Read moreTook my 3 year old son to the park and beach today. He really liked the playground, a variety of things to play on and do. It is also a playground not right next to the parking lot and road so as a parent you can relax a bit about the cars and easily catch darting kids. We walked a little of the trail at the park. Loose and sandy gravel. When you get back to the turns in the trail they are not marked but common sense keeps you the correct direction. We walked over the soccer field to the beach. It is a rocky beach where turning over rocks finds crabs. The bathroom near the soccer field was just alright. We did not use the restroom near the playground so I cannot comment. We returned 2 years later just for the beach walking to the far end before the bridge. There is a small sandy beach that made our day a lot of fun. No restrooms out there at all. Watch your tide predictions so you know how to get...
