Illinois River Outfitters — Attraction in Tahlequah

Review from 2023: Easy to find, great bus drivers taking you up river, explained where to land at the end and another awesome driver took us straight back to our car so no walking with heavy cooler after a long day! Staff were all super nice and friendly, explained if you need guidance. It was super easy and fun and at the best price on the river! Rafts were big and comfortable for 2 people plus a big cooler. Store has water shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen and all the other must haves if you forgot anything. 10 out of 10 WILL be back to float again! It was a real adventure! Update 08/28/2024: Still absolutely amazing, great experience and great equipment! I tried the single kayak for the long trip this time and it was an adventure I will never forget. I've found a new thing thanks to IRO! A tip for a first time kayaker, tie down everything or you lose it, and it trashes up the river! Learn a few good tie down knots, cause I sure didn't and lost my shoes and many other things. River rocks are not fun...

We had the best time! I brought two other adults and my two doggies, and from start to finish, the experience was amazing. The morning of our trip, the owner personally texted me to let us know that kayaking wouldn’t be safe due to river conditions—but that we could still enjoy the float in a raft. I really appreciated the proactive and thoughtful communication!

When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by a beautiful and friendly receptionist. Our group (plus another) was picked up by the bus—dogs and all—and taken to the river. After our float, the staff even got into the water to help pull our raft out. Talk about going above and beyond!

the helpers are really good up until the owner(lady with glasses) started barking at everyone. she was very rude and demanding. She made sure everyone knew it was her company and her land that she owned on the river and rudely asked kids and people to not swim in the river by her ending point for rafts. it was amusing to us that she was so demanding and rude basically saying that everyone needs to move because of all the rafts coming in but then only 3 came. i highly recommend all the other wonderful rafting tours and would definitely steer clear of Illinois...
