Southside Shopping Plaza — Attraction in Tallahassee

Piggly Wiggly is certainly one of two cheap grocery stores in town, and considering the food4less being way out on North Monroe I would have to add Piggly Wiggly as the cheapest accessible grocery store in town to those of us who live closer to downtown or on the southside. Although spending less money for food these days is always a good thing I find myself choosing Winn-Dixie or Publix more than I choose Piggly Wiggly. Not only because Winn Dixie and Publix are close to me, but for the sure fact that Piggly Wiggly does not have good customer service. Sometimes it is downright aweful. Getting a greeting or a thank you is very rare. Cashing checks, sending/receiving money, and access to the lottery is not available. I wouldn't encourage showing up 15 before they close because you're going to feel hounded with announcements, watchful eyes, snickers, and a sure way to recognize the thug in some of the younger men that work there. I personally don't like that type of work ethic, or lack of it, around me because it sours my day. If customer service is this bad it makes me question their standards in the meat section, and I have actually bought a whole chicken, got it home , and started to prepare cooking it only to find out it was no good. I called the store and the manager said to bring it back for replacement or refund, and when I did that right away the manager was not so very nice about it, and no apology came...

Worst experience ever! A armed security guard from " Barkley Security" was rude and unprofessional with my 14 y/o daughter when she attempted to leave packages that we had purchased from another store with him at the front of the store while we briefly shopped . Now it was my understanding that ; as with most stores, leaving packages at the front with either customer service or security was not only customary ,but appreciated by most retail management. So one understand my frustration when this "ignaramous" told my "to take her bags back to the car!" What? Do you screen who you hire; better yet where does Barkley security do their hiring for armed officers, "Day Labor? Why in the world would my daughter bring her bags in Piggly Wiggly if we were in a car at that particular moment? The irony of it all is that you thought it was funny that you refused to watch our groceries, but was doing absolutely nothing but laughing on the cellphone when I found " my child" standing near the exit frustrated and waiting on me. We should all support black owned businesses. They are few and far in-between when it comes to Grocery stores owned by Brothers and Sisters of our community. This store should be on the brink of expansion & renovation due to the high volume of patronization from the Black dollar as well as every other citizen of this area.
