During the death of a loved one, the last thing people need is a stressful experience when it comes to planning their funeral arrangements, and unfortunately, I feel like Blount & Curry Funeral Home at Garden of Memories, took advantage of myself and my family when it came to burying my father.
I entrusted my uncle and my grandmother to go to Blount & Curry Funeral Home at 4207 E Lake Ave to make arrangements for my father to be buried there, and I greatly feel like they were taken advantage of and were price gouged, resulting in the total cost of the burial to be $14,351.00. I understand the cost of the interment rights, which is $7,295.00, but for the remainder of the cost to be $7,056.00 for "merchandise and services" is what I feel is outrageous for the lack of service and care we received during my fathers funeral.
I went to talk to Bryce at this funeral home privately to ask for a breakdown of the cost, I was still a little overwhelmed by how much everything was, and Bryce gave me his personal cell phone number, which I wrote down EXACTLY how he said it, and he also said he would be reaching out to me to engrave some custom words on my fathers grave for free. Well, I had some questions regarding the price breakdown, so I went to text the number Bryce gave me, and received a text back saying "wrong number". I then called the funeral home and asked to speak to him and was told that he would call me back later, which he never did. I also never received a call to be asked what to engrave on his tombstone.
To be so fragile and overwhelmed during the loss of a loved one and family member, I feel this funeral home should practice compassion and empathy. I feel like they took advantage of a grieving family and tackled unnecessary fees. My main question was the "LWC Premium Event" charge which was $3,395.00. I feel that fee is outrageous and the burial lasted no more than 5 mins. We were being rushed to leave as they wanted to start stacking the chairs and taking down the canopy. I paid almost $4,000 for the use of chairs and the canopy and then we were being rushed out to leave, I felt that was super rude considering the amount of money paid.
If someone could email me on this, I would greatly appreciate it. I have already emailed Adam, with no response. I have called to speak to Andy but...
Read moreMy aunt passed away on the 21st of August 2015. Her funeral/memorial services were taken care of by Garden of Memories. We had a horrendous experience dealing with the people of this Funeral Home! It had been very difficult to speak to the staff of Garden of Memories from their receptionist to the funeral director who attended to my aunt's arrangement. They had a lot of alibis for not receiving the calls we made. The messages we have left on their answering machine were not returned! Aunt died on the 21st of August. Her death certificate was filed by the Garden of Memories on the 4th of September... It took them that long! I needed to ask help from my aunt's friends, Drs. Loreto and Balagtas to expedite the death certificate.(Thanks to them!) Otherwise Garden of Memories could not be bothered... My aunt was cremated on the 6th of September and the death certificate was released on the 8th of September. We have to pick up her cremated remains from the funeral home instead of the funeral director (RH) or his staff delivering the urn to my aunt's address... The funeral director's reason...he has no driver to deliver my aunt's remains to her address! Horrible people!
"Your concern is our concern"... this is their motto. It is not true! They do not live up to their motto.
I am not a resident of America. I am from the UK and went there to arrange for my aunt's funeral/memorial services. The inefficiency of the funeral director (RH) and his staff caused me to delay my return flight back to the UK which meant an additional week of me being off work, and the hassles rearranging with the airline. Inefficient, inconsiderate, lacks courtesy and very poor customer service. Residents of Tampa, think a hundred times before choosing Garden of Memories to be the one to close the last chapter of your lives... Not...
Read moreI am very saddened and dissatisfied with the cemetery service at Garden of Memories. My mother pre purchased a joint plot for her and my father along with a headstone back in 2016. My mom passed away June of 2024 and has yet to have her headstone created. It’s horrible that I have to continuously call this location for an updated status and each call someone says they will call me back. I have had two counselors since June of 2022, Kyle Simmons and Michael Synder, both promised call backs and completion of the headstone. As of today neither are employed at this location as I am told when I call and leave a callback number. I have yet to have a director call me in regard to my mom’s account to advise our contract is being handled by another counselor not a timeframe on completion of her headstone. This is absolutely terrible service! In addition to the terrible experience of the day we had her memorial service on grounds, No Attendants were available, I took into consideration that maybe the services changed because this was right after Covid. However reading all the amazing comments from other families here have me a bit concerned as to why I have not had the same efficient and pleasant experience. It’s already an emotional process to bury a parent yet alone place follow up calls for two years for a plot that is already paid in full and under contract. I would love for our family to be able to visit the plot with headstone there. Today I made another call, only to be told the director is with another family. I am leaving this post as another attempt to have someone contact me. I absolutely do not recommend Blount & Curry at Garden if Memories for pre arrangements as your love ones have to suffer even more after your gone to have your contract and services upheld as me and my...
