12/31/21 - This is a gem of a battlefield. Did the southern section on this trip, and spent 3 hours meandering about the fields and walking the trail. Lots of information on the placards. And you must visit the information center. It has a wonderfully compact museum, and Kim is a delight!
Next time I travel by here, I will visit the northern section.
Edit: 06/25/23 - I made it back to the area, and stopped to look at the northern section of the battlefield. It is as good as the southern section. Paid my respects to Rev. Parker and his wife at the cemetery. Tried to walk the trail on the northern side, but it was 98F (37C) and humid, so I didn't get to see all of it. Will try again when I am back in the area and it is a little cooler.

Read moreI am here at Parker's Crossroads Battlefield in Tennessee. This is not a national park but probley should be one. You can get your national park book stamped at the visitors center. This is where General Nathan Bedford Forrest when surrounded said "Charge them both ways" and most of his me excaped. This is a fairly new park as people foegot about it until the 1980s. Read moreI live close to this area and walk or bicycle often! Something people don’t realize is there are two trails to walk….one on each side of the interstate. One is an open walk, the other, where the log cabin is, is beautiful as it’s under the trees and more secluded, being cooler in the summer. There are signs posted about what happened in a particular area of the park. There used to be re-enactments that were so realistic you would think you were in that era!! Perfect...
