We fell victim to the new Tennessee Reservation System this week as the system had canceled the reservations we made 12 months ago and assigned someone else to our spot. We contacted reservation central, and they assigned us a spot for the night. The following morning, we went to the park office, and the staff was able to assign us a suitable substitute site to accommodate our needs. The biggest problem is that in order to complete the transaction, we were charged for a new reservation at the current rates for a problem cause by a system failure resulting in $85 in added cost for a reservation we had paid for 12 months earlier. Plus, nearly a day taken off of our trip dealing with the fallout of their system failure... or go home... I want to add that the park staff was polite, friendly, and compassionate while bearing the brunt of this abysmal system...
Read moreBy far the best waterfalls in Southeast Tennessee, and I've seen them all. And when the water level is low in the fall, you can climb down the terraced stone to the bottom of most areas. Bring a life jacket if you plan on swimming, as 102 people have died here over the years. Also very clean restrooms and facilities and picnic areas. A few moderately nice trails, but the falls define the landscape and will imprint on you for life....
