Beautiful place! Lots of falls to see. One of the best parts about the trail during these heat advisories we are currently having is it is all shaded. There were so many overlooks, (these are in the shade too), you could stop at and just watch the falls, people kayaking, paddle boarding, boating, geese swimming by and so many other parts of nature. These rock overlooks also would make for beautiful scenery for a picnic, a proposal or any other special occasion or place to hang out with loved ones or friends.
I am disabled and found the 1.6 mile downstream trail pretty easy. There were a few parts that were a little challenging but I made it. The stairs at the beginning/end were my biggest challenge. There are several sets of man made stairs on the trail that were a challenge with bad knees but these areas would have been so much worse without them. I took my time. Rested when I wanted as there were so many well placed large rocks or logs you could sit on. It took almost 2 hours to complete this trail. There was another couple that looked to be in good shape that did it twice to my one. But as I said I took my time not to push myself. I will be returning to try some of the...

Once downhill, make yourself at home among the rocky terrain and watery views. Great for adventurous and young at heart of all ages, providing your feet are as surefooted as a billy goat—or if you have trekking poles, like me 😬.
Every uneven, sketchy step, slippery rock and mini scramble is worth a bump or bruise. If it was easy everyone would do it. I wouldn’t trade seeing my adult son swim under a waterfall for the world.
My favorite was swimming across the river to climb up to the less trodden waterfall where my mate and I shared a quiet moment.
If only the actual Twin falls were more accessible from where we were directed or the map indicated the best way to them. Thats why I gave 4 stars instead of 5.
Must return...
Read moreMy husband and I were so excited about this trip and honestly was worth the 2 hour drive from Knoxville. Right outside the park there is a trolley bus that sells May Belle Icecream; that, of course, is an obligatory stop. The scenery of the park was unreal with many swimming holes. Life jacket is an absolute must as there are dams. The dams made the water stinky in different places. Good tennis shoes or water shoes with grip is also a must especially if its been raining. The trail isnt really a trail. Its more of an open land and you make the best of it, which to me is EVERYTHING if you are adventurous off the trail type. We created our own path where we crossed the river and scaled boulders and rocks to land right in FRONT of Twin Falls. It can be dangerous, but with common sense and awareness to where youre placing your foot, its doable. It was SPECTACULAR. I have been to Niagra Falls, I have been to Yosemite Lower and Upper Falls, yet this waterfall, for me personally,...
