Edit to original post: We called and spoke to the office, and we are much less upset now... We were told the court is not for any sports except those listed. She asked that in the future if people are playing other sports in thencourts to call ao park rangers can remove them.
So, whoever this instructor was, eas absolutely incorrect or flat out lying. The office said there was no reservations that she saw online, but there was potentially a private reservation and would send the schedule over to us.
Beware of lying Instructors in the area taking advantage of the system so her kids or someone's kids can play whatever sports she feels are appropriate while she is or is not teaching pickleball.
Original post was 1 star! Well, I loved this park until today. It's funny how one terrible set of communication can absolutely ruin a wonderful amenity in the Woodlands with back handed, awkward and poor communication.
The sign for the pickle ball court simply states what sports can be played in the courts, as well as what pickle ball hours are. The sign says that pickle ball ends at 12 on the sign and the website...
A random rented court pickle ball instructor informed us that she had half the courts rented (after 12) and to please stay on the other side. Than continued to let kids play soccer on the side she had rented for pickle ball (ok...). Than when her students arrived she informed us that we needed to leave because she had the whole court rented and that we need to go to the office, because we have to call and ask if the courts are available... because sometimes people use it for soccer or football or whatever other sports they want (again this is not what the sign states).
The sign clearly states what sports are allowed in the court... those are not listed sports. If this is the truth than fix the sign.
She continued on about how we must call and go to the office... We came and skated for a long time at the skate park (happily) before looking to see if the courts were opening up.
We didn't enter until we saw them cleaning up and of course after 12, and then basically got kicked out, because she said we could use half the court, and then changed her mind. Literally, all she had to say from the start is I have this rented out until... or I have this rented out starting at... literally we would not have had an issue at all...
I don't know who the instructor was, but I don't appreciate the absolute terrible and weird communication. Also, how is this an area for soccer or football... this is the only roller court in the entire Houston area. I don't understand how you have soccer fields across the street and this is an acceptable place to say people can come on a first come first serve for soccer.
I don't appreciate being spoken to like a child, and I especially think if this park truly operates in this fashion you might as well not call it a place for roller hockey since you let people use it for soccer and football since there are so few of us that actually can find anywhere to play hockey at all...
This entire situation could have been fixed with a posted schedule or her just saying when she had the area rented and for what times. Problem solved no frustration or some person thinking that she can speak to a 33 year old...
Read moreI go here often but this trip was a little off. The dogs were fighting & growling more than normal, some people were not paying attention toi when their dogs got in a fight and some lady brought her smaller dog, about 25 maybe 30lb dog into the big dog section and that was a disaster. She owned the gate into the park and ended up letting approximately 5, maybe more, other dogs into that walk through area. That's a disaster waiting to happen. I Tried to tell her to close the gate but she was more worried about her dog thay was now ganged up on by the welcoming committee. Her dog was growling, showing teeth & hackles were up. Since none of the dog owners were helping I finally got up to help her. She was very overwhelmed. Her small dog continued to be ugly and she did nothing to correct or stop it. I broke upo one fight. Her dog calmed down about 15 minutes later but he/ she (I didn't look) was still on the defensive. I7 I do agree that the dog park is a great place to socialize your dogs however if your dog already has a socialization issue that dog park is not the place to start. The proper place to start is with a dog trainer that knows how to handle this situation and easily and very slowly graduate up to a dog park. After other trainings for socialization have been put in place this will allow the dog to be used to other dogs and not be so up tight, bitter, angry, using their alpha side and just wanting to fight. This is one of my biggest pet peeves at a dog park.
2nd thing there was a lot of dogs #2 around I picked upo some extras which I don't usually mind. However I think OWNERS should try to pay attention or figure out whose dog it is and let the owner knoe his dog needs to be picked up iafterwards. I Think that's a great idea of us all working together toi hello one another. Is just like kids, it takes a village toi raise them for sure and sometimes to keep up with them!
It had just been raining a few days straight and there was a a couple of muddy spots nothing huge like small pond for the dogs to swim in.
Thought of the day make it a team work action to help one another or if your close clean up for the parent who does not see the #2 being made.

Read moreThis dog park is very large and very well laid out. There are 2 areas for large and small dogs plus a 2 gate entry system to make sure dogs can't escape off leash. Most times I have been, small dogs and large dogs are all mixed together in the large dog side and all the dogs are playing well together. The owners here all seem to be involved with the dogs and even when having conversation with each, are watching their dog to make sure they are playing nice with others.
I've only had one negative incident and it wasn't even a big deal. I have a boxer and as anybody knows about boxers, they are jumpy and other dogs aren't always keen with their play style. One dog ended up getting our dog on the ground and started biting his heels and our dog started yelping. I immediately pulled my dog out of the pile and he was fine (no marks or cuts or anything) and the other owner apologized as did I. Right after our dogs started playing again and were just fine with each other.
The facilities include a water hose for your dog with bowls provided as well as a one of those small hard plastic kiddie pools you can fill up so your dog can lay in the water to cool down. This park is mostly wood chips and the dogs never seem to mind. There are 3 or 4 benches and a large shade structure in the middle of the park to stand under. There are also a lot of trees (it is The Woodlands!).
Our dog loves going here and we love getting there in the evenings around 7pm when all the other dogs are there. Our boxer wears himself out and is always so tired when he gets home from playing so hard. Definitely recommend if you haven't...
