Angel Island is an underrated destination in the SF Bay Area. It's easy to get there by ferry from the Ferry Building in SF or the ferry from Tiburon. You can bring or rent a bicycle on the island. Once there, it's worth doing the main hike on the island to the top of Mt. Livermore, about 6 miles round trip with 800 ft of elevation gain. There isn't much but a picnic bench or two and a lot of fencing at the tiny crowded summit areas. The trail down the other side has been destroyed, and the views are not the best. The real beauty is along the trail up, which goes through a largely shaded single track path in the beautiful green forest with stunning views.

This spot is not to be missed when visiting Angel Island. Beautiful views, easy to access hiking trails up to the top. Plenty of options including a fire path that’s well paved and some smaller trails. Views of all the bridges and Tiburon is an amazing place to take in all the scenery. Some picnic tables as well makes for a great place to take a break and get a snack.

A must if visiting Angel Island. The hike to the top of Mt. Livermore isnt the easiest but the trail gradually climbs the mountain. There are various trails and fire roads on Mt. Livermore and the views are great. At the top are 360 degree views of the Bay Area and on a clear day you can see for miles. By far the best views in the Bay and on Angel Island.
