I gave them four out of five stars because honestly I don’t think they can make it as an independent country. The Free Angel Island movement plans on making the cafe the statehouse and presidency’s home. The old hospital is going to house the Department of Interior. The bike rental shack will be the prison. They keep talking about how great it’s going to be. My bet is they might decide to make some sort of commemorative stamp to make money. Similar to other micro nations. Or perhaps compete with the Vatican and try to get the Pope to move. Only time will tell. There’s rumors of gold on Mt. Livermore and a group of radicals want to seize Red Rock island. You may want to put your name down to volunteer. Someone already has been asked to compose a national anthem. It’ll be in English and inexplicably partially in Old Norse. Read moreI have to rate 1 star to post this. But really this place gets zero stars. They close at 2:30pm... Fine, I get it that they won't serve you after they close. But they also won't serve you if it's 2:20pm. And they still won't serve you even if the people just in front of you ordered food and you're the only other one in line. Even if all you want is nothing that involves cooking (i.e a wrap or a salad)?... They won't serve you because the kitchen is closed. So... Make sure you plan plenty of time to eat here. Or... even better, plan to pack your own food. Don't give them...
Read moreI wish we had known more about Angel Island "Cafe" before we arrived. Thank goodness we brought some snacks for the kids because lunch selection was very poor and prices were 'mind blowing!' We had a turkey sandwich, a packet of salami and cheese, and nachos. The cost was $35 and change ($17 for the nachos!). A group came after us and were going to buy drinks but when they saw the prices, they changed their minds. The day had been lovely....ferry and tram, but the lunch experience was unfortunate. ...
