As you may have noticed, my family and I are definitely adventures even in our own backyard. Today my family and I decided to take a trip to Tower and visit the old Train Museum. Trains have always been a fascinating thing for me because at one point that was our way for transportation, and the history of the tracks forming from the East to the West is a phenomenal tail. This particular train that sits here permanently in Tower, MN was a former passenger train that ran from Duluth to the Iron Range. Looking inside the the old engineering area is a little eerie looking at all the original speedometers, the compartment for the coals, where a piece of rope once was to help ring the bell on top of the engine. You could almost imagine the puffs of smoke roaring overhead, the whistle blowing, a conductor yelling, "All aboard!" It all feels so real. From Wikipedia it states, "Tower station, often called the Tower Passenger Depot, is a former passenger railroad depot in Tower, Minnesota, United States, that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1916 by the Duluth and Iron Range Railroad, it provided passenger train service until 1951." It's a fun place to bring the whole family. Come check it out, you won't be disappointed. The Duluth and Iron Range Railroad Company Passenger Station is a museum in Tower, Minnesota. The railroad depot is listed on the National Register of Historic Places to see. The railroad was built in 1916. The Duluth and Iron Range Railroad provided train service until 1951.The entire train engine and cars are open to the public to walk inside. When I walked inside the cars, it brought memories back. The train museum itself was not open to the public. I loved seeing the old train again! Please visit and walk inside the train engine, sit down and pretend you are the driver of the train. Make sure someone will take your photo. Enjoy your visit at the Duluth and Iron Range Railroad Company...

Historical sight with 2 of the trains you can actually go into. Nice playground for the kids. Picnic tables in the pavilion with grills. Nice park with access to hiking/walking trails. Nice stream running through with a small parking lot at the back side of park. Larger lot in front. Has a small old settlers cabin featured as well that can be toured during week day...

If you like trains you'll love this. You can walk in on the rains and take a peek at what they've got inside. There are lots of facts about where they went and what they were used for as well a gift shop, but that is closed as of now. Also there is a park behind it for kids!

This town has really done a great job keeping their history alive. You can actually climb up into several types of train cars. The guy in the gift shop was super helpful, and even took a photo of me! Well worth the time to stop by. There is also a nice park near by
